Default Can i run this past you all

Hubby wants to teach in NZ

So..... would i be right in saying

That husband fills in forms and applies to teaching council....(assuming all ok)
we then come to NZ on a visitors visa.

Husband then looks for jobs once job obtained he applies for working visa

When he is in the job we then apply for permanent residency?

Have i got this right?

theory based on that its easier for him to get a job there as apposed to here

I'm hoping i have this right but please correct me if I'm wrong

Does hubby have enough points i.e. 100+ without a job offer? If he has he could put his application in now and you could carry on with the rest of the plan you've mapped out after that. If this is the case and he gets a job offer once in NZ he could just notify INZ and they will update his file and probably push his application along a bit.

If he doesn't have enough points I guess your plan is as good a way of making a start.

Well i THINK he gets 115 with out job offer or being in the country but this is on the understanding that his teacher training is one of the skill shortages, there is no definitive PGCE title in their list as its not a qualification they actually teach in NZ but it enables him to teach 16+ so that would be least 2 years of secondary and anything up to degree students.

Over here that woulds be access students (adults returning to education), all adults returning to education post compulsory that includes dipoma and degree, but not quite a university lecturer.

From one of the other posts i made it said that it would be up to the teaching council to decided which age group level he could teach.

(god my head hurts )

Should we just bite the bullet and go ahead and put in our EOI and see what happens lets face it if they come back and say that it isnt a Skilled shortage job then at least we will know for sure right????

I think the general idea is to match quals from outside NZ with those from within the country i.e. like for like. You could try the NZQA for a pre-assessment if you don't get anywhere with the Teaching Council.

Hi - sounds like a similar situation to us - I currently teach in a private school in UK but don't have a full PGCE so I cannot teach in any schools in NZ. I have been offered a job at a polytechnic in NZ (similar to UK FE colleges) without a problem and I have submitted PR application and we fly out on 10 July.

My wife is a teacher and to get registration in NZ you have to get qualifications assessed by NZQA first. You can apply for to NZTC for registration at the same time but you will not get it until NZQA have assessed the qualifications.

Hope this helps
