Angry Grrrrrrr..........

Got all my paperwork back from Washington today - and a letter that states I am missing my FBI check. Guess what was in the packet - my FBI check, the original form! It says, "The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is the channeling agency for FBI criminal history record checks submitted by Ohio agencies. This is to verify that the FBI has completed the criminal history record check. Based upon the information furnished by your agency, the FBI has determined that No Record exists in their files for.....[me, identified with Social Security Number]" "Date completed by FBI:March 01,2008". Is there anything wrong with this???

Was the FBI check in the package you received from Washington?...If so why on earth did they send it back too you?
I don't understand they are supposed to keep that. Well we sent ours with my husband's application and never got them back and didn't expect to.

They sent everything back, including the police check that was sent to them originally with all my paperwork. (And since I am a nurse, if I had any kind of criminal background, well, I likely wouldn't be working as a nurse in this country.) At least everything is stamped with a "received" date of April 21,2008. There was nothing missing with regards to the work permit, but that came back, too. I think they just don't like me. Or maybe someone was having a really bad day and I got the short end of the stick. Who knows? I guess I will, once again, try to see if I can talk to a live person at the Washington branch next week and see what the problem is. (I left a voice mail on Wednesday just wondering where things were, and never got a call back.) I'm a nice person, really, I am! I work in a customer service-type position and I know how to talk to people without being rude or nasty, and I am very patient, so I don't know what I might have done or said to have this happen.

It's so discouraging when you read about other people getting things processed so quickly. And not to mention, my partner and I are missing each other terribly!

My husband believes the confusion (due to a nearsighted case officer) stems from your FBI Record being channeled through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation instead of being sent directly to you from the FBI. He said even though what you sent included the "No Record Exists" from the FBI, the case officer is probably confused because the form you sent in from the Ohio Bureau "looks different" from the FBI Record Check they are used to receiving. Hopefully, you can straighten all of this out with a phone call to Washington on Monday. Best of luck!!

I talked to someone at the NZ Embassy and faxed over the letter I received along with some information on the system used. The gentleman I spoke with said he would call me back today but, you know how that goes....

In the meantime, I went to the security department where I work yesterday and they were kind enough to do four full sets of fingerprints so those are in the mail with the cover letter and the money order.

Maybe it's me, but I have been exposed to so many rude people lately (at work and elsewhere) that I made a Pina Colada cake last night and dropped it off to the Security department this morning as a little token of my appreciation.

I suppose I will call tomorrow to see if the man I talked to actually received the fax.
