Default got to move quickly

Hello to you all. I would like some advice if possible.
I had a flying recce visit over Easter with about 36 hours in Auckland, 40 hours in Christchurch and 36 hours in Timaru. Net result I loved the South Island and have been offered a job in Timaru. Great so far and we are really excited now.
New job requires me to start in July. With the job offer, I am sure that I would meet the 140 pts on EOI but given the tight timescale would I be better in going for WTR? What are the advantages of each?
What will the rest of the family need - wife, two kids, 9 & 5?

Thanks

I would think, for speed, you could apply for a Work Permit to get you started in your job and then submit a PR application to run alongside it. If you get a WP, your wife and children should be able to get appropriate visas i.e. WP and student visas under the same application. Otherwise they could get visit visas for 6 months (if you're from the UK) and extend up to 12 months if you're still waiting for the PR to come through. The problem with the latter is that you'd have to pay international fees for the kids' schooling until PR is finalised.

E4.5 Spouses or de facto partners and dependent children of student or work visa or permit holders

Spouses or de facto partners of student or work visa or permit holders may be issued with temporary visas or granted temporary permits of a type appropriate to their needs for the currency of the spouse or partner's visa or permit.
To be eligible for a temporary visa or permit, spouses or de facto partners must be in a genuine and stable relationship*. For de facto partners the couple must also have been living together in a genuine and stable relationship* for at least 2 years immediately before the application is assessed.
Dependent children* of student or work visa or permit holders may be issued with temporary visas or granted temporary permits of a type appropriate to their needs for the duration of the parent's visa or permit.
Spouses of full fee scholarship students, who receive a 'dependant's allowance' from MFAT, require MFAT's approval to be granted a work permit.

Hi whale.......... WTR means you are tied to the company for 2 years and you need to have a salary of over $50,000 it might have gone up tho not too sure ....... with such a tight time sacle to start work I am not sure if you would have enough time to submit the EOI and then ITA although the job offer does speed up the whole process.

Sorry if I am sounding like a bit of doom and gloom here, merley my thoughts on it,
no doubt you will have other feed back soon

Can I work and gain residence in New Zealand? try this link though

Hi

Congrats on the job offer.

If I were you I would submit your EOI with the job offer on and also apply for a temporary work permit to cover until your residensy is granted.

As MB says your wife and kids could come to NZ on visit visas until PR is granted (with a job offer it should be done in that time). This is the way we are doing things and plent of others do the same so you wouldn't be on your own.

Beth
