Finishing contract early

Hello again everyone!

I had a contract for a year but leaving NZ early for my reasons. But likely to come back here as a visitor after a month or so. I would like some advices of how I should approach immigrations about this.
What (information) do I need to take with me?
eg)
- form of leaving work early(resigning?)

Unfortunately I dont know much about the Visa your on. Perhaps if you could let us know what visa you are in NZ with we could help you out a bit better.

I certianly know if you are on a WHV you can come and go as you please but obviously WTR etc will probably be different.

When you return you say you'll be coming back as a visitor will you be looking to work again or just holidaying in NZ then returning home?

I believe that you are in NZ and working on a WP?

I think that, once you finish work with the company you have your WP with, the WP will be cancelled. Your job and your WP are tied together. If the WP is cancelled you will probably have to leave NZ immediately or apply for a VV for the remainder of your stay in NZ. If you are going to leave NZ once your WP is cancelled, then you can return to NZ with a Visitor's Visa if you don't want to work there again. If you do want to work, you would need another WP.

MotherBear, so notify the immigration to cancel my work visa(yes i carry both visa and permit) then leave the country immediately. Do I need to appply for the visitor's visa before i leave?

Just apply before you want to return to NZ as a normal tourist would do.

If you are going to inform INZ that you want to cancel your WP, perhaps just check with them at the same time that this is what you can do. I can't find anything on the INZ site about what happens when you want to cancel a WP, so it's best to check. As I see it, once your WP is cancelled, you then become like any other tourist and can return to NZ as one.
