Default Have an interview with Christchurch Hospital

I have got a phone interview with Christchurch hospital next month for a nursing post. Has anyone been interviewed by them and if so could you give me a little advice as to what they are likely to ask? I have recently had interviews in the UK as I have just changed jobs but I would imagine NZ hospitals are looking for something different. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Good luck Nicky, I'm sure you'll walk it My interview was for Hawkes Bay -I did a little preparation for it, but mine was very informal Look at the job profile- pick out similarities and differences between it and what you are doing now etc. Also look at the NZ prof code and scope of practice- from what I can gather they are almost identical to the UK ones- I think NZ health care is largely based on a mixture of UK/ Australia/ US formats. Also they will like it if you know a little about Cultural Diversity, ie- health care issues for Moauri populations. If you like I can pm some links Also RELAX duing the interview- I sat in my scruffiest pj's with a cold beer by my side- aren't phone interviews great HTH Ali

Thanks Alifox - any links you have that may help would be great. I have read a little about the treaty of waitangi and some other things that relate to maori's but feel they are bound to ask me more than I know.

Default Had the interview.

Well I settled down for the interview last night. I had all my notes on the treaty of Waitangi, Code of conduct for NZ nurses and as much info as I could find on Christchurch and CDHB (my trusty laptop was by my side). It was difficult to hear them clearly as they were on speaker phone but things got off well. The usual 'tell us about yourself' style questions. Just glad it was not on video - my arms were everywhere. It was quite an informal interview - some clinical questions and 'what would you do if...' scenarios. Not one question on the Treaty of Waitangi just a few about different cultures. All my swatting was in vane.

They said they would let me know by the end of the week. I came downstairs feeling very pleased with myself.

Well, this morning I get a call from the agency who set up the interview asking the standard 'how do you think it went etc...' line of chat when she said that they were very pleased with me and wanted to offer me a job and that it would be held open until we arrive next September. To say I was gobsmacked was an understatement.

Now OH will have to say yes and we can finally start putting our plans into action. I am just sooo pleased words fail me

Cor, another Christchurchian in the making.

That didn't take long, did it? You've obviously got what they want. Time to pull the stops out and get cracking. Things to do, places to go.

Hurray!!
