Amy, try advertising your house on www.houseladder.co.uk I sold our that way in a fortnight and also did a website for someone from another forum to link to from houseladder and theirs sold in a week. It only costs either ?50 for a month or ?100 till your house sells. you get a for sale board included as well.

Yeah, Seek has been good for giving an indicator that there are plenty of jobs available. Haven't bothered applying seriouslyf or any of the jobs I've seen as I didn't want to be tied to a location before seeing them for myself.

Our House was the same, cheapest in the area, still reckon we could have hel out for more if we were patient but, was pleased with what we got in the end.

Leaving loads of family behind and a few friends but don't mind going as like you most of them will end up coming out as well some of them permanantly if all goes well with us.
There's all been plenty of tears shed but not by us really, we're not really that type of people. Got leaving BBQ on the 28th tho and that could become quite emotional. We'll see. :icon_sad:

Hi Moggy,

Thanks for that site, in Edinburgh we advertise via the ESPC website which most if not all houses are advertised in. You pay ?250 for 6 months advertising on their Website and in their paper. We've also done some independant advertising as well but I think in Edinburgh or even Scotland as a whole things are really slow ::) ( So unfair... I dont think the dull weather has helped us either as all the photos on our schedule were taken when it was pouring down with rain!

Stevey - you guys are so brave, I've had tears already and we've not even got a moving date!

It's going to be so hard leaving everyone behind especially my little sister but they've all said they'll visit in Feb for a few weeks which will be great.

If we do end up staying longer I can imagine a few family or even friends may even consider the move as well.

The other house I mentioned I had helped to sell, had been up for sale for a while - the first thing I insisted was they they got some new photos taken - the outside looked so dull an uninviting. A week with the new bright sunny pictures and it sold - first impression count
If I were you I would do the same - borrow a digital camera if you haven't got one and insist that your details are updated.

Hi Moggy,

Thats a good idea, I think then next sunny day we'll get out and take some photos as even the ones in the house just dont do it justice. The day we had our photos taken it had been snowing in the morning and turned to wind and rain in the evening!

We've already paid an extra ?100 to change the schedule twice previously as we've moved the price and moved viewing times as we have open viewing days up here - dont know if you guys have the same?

When you're selling you just feel like everything is out of your control and it's just a waiting game!!

Houseladder don't charge for any changes that you want to make, You can change it as often as you want. You can also link to your own website where you can create virtual tours etc if you so wish

I wish that was the same up here with the ESPC, I think it's madness that they take ?250 off to advertise through them for 6 months then when you make any amendment take ?50 off each time!!

When are you going out to NZ or are you already out there?

Hi Moggy,

I'm sorry to hear you wont be going as soon as you'd planned, hopefully things will work out for you and you'll be in NZ in no time at all.

I must admit, I'm fed up of people giving me advice like that, we had planned to be across by the start of June for my friends 40th but it's not looking that way now cos of the house sale.

It's supposed to be such a happy and exciting time for us making the move but it aint half stressful....
