    Default Confused WHV

I'm in the U.S. and am in the process of getting my medical certificate and my police certificate taken care of. Do I need to print anything out for the doctor's office for them to fill out or will they have the necessary paperwork?

Also I have been working on a checklist of what budget for and what to bring. If anyone has any suggestions to ease my mind that would be great too!

I have my passport already and I have $1500 USD already but by my budget I have $4000 to go. My plans are to leave by August 24th. Let me know if that is reasonable!

You need to print off the medical certificate forms and take them to the doctor for him/her to fill in. I wouldn't like to say if your doctor would already have a copy of this so best to go prepared.

For someone going to NZ without a residency or work visa in hand, it's recommended that you allow a minimum of NZ$1000 per month per person to live on.

What to bring is a matter of what you have that you will need i.e. moving a whole housefull of belongings or if you're travelling light. Bringing a large amount of stuff with you could be expensive, so it might be a good idea to compare the cost of replacing it with the cost of shipping it. Most things are available in NZ, but good quality clothing would probably be quite a bit more expensive there than in the US.

I plan on only staying for a year in NZ with friends on a working holiday. I'm under the impression that that allows me to work during my stay but that I will be switching jobs every 3 months. Correct me if I'm wrong:) But yeah I am going with a minimum of $5500USD and more if I can scrounge it up.
I only plan on bringing clothes, shoes, and my laptop. Besides that I feel it would be too much extra to worry about.

Ah, right. sorry, I didn't take in the title of your original post where it mentions WHV. The mention of medical and police certificates threw my mind into overdrive and I thought you were going to NZ on some long term type of visa.

If you're only going temporarily to NZ then I guess the items you mention i.e. clothes, laptop and other things you use on a daily basis would be all that you need. Much better to travel light than burden yourself down with baggage you may not use. Clothing and shoes sufficient for a year's stay would alone weigh a huge amount so it depends on whether you want to pay for excess baggage or will just stay within your baggage allowance.
