Default any tips to find any odd job

    Hi everybody,
Being new to this forum, I really find it interesting and very informative.
I was on visitor’s permit and converted it into an open work permit without the need to submit a job offer as my wife is undertaking postgraduate courses towards skilled qualifications in demand (Long Term Skill Shortage List). At the moment i’m looking any kind of job as a labourer, cleaner, dishwasher at coffee shops or restaurant, fruit picking etc…. get bored of doing nothing then looking for opportunity to improve my spoken English through any kind of job mentioned above. Does anyone have tips where to find a job? I could find many in some websites and newspapers but mainly posting vacancies of qualified and skilful jobs.
Thanks a lot for your help and feedback

    Hey..

You could try on seek.co.nz or trademe.co.nz.. trademe has all sorts of jobs including cleaners, labourers etc.. or just go down to any employment consultant.. Cheers

    Good luck with your search.

Temporary jobs are sometimes advertised at backpackers.

Depending on which area you're living in, I would have suggested looking out for jobs in horticulture or viticulture but it could be the wrong time of year as it isn't the growing season now. Not sure what the right seasons for fruit picking etc. are. There may be farmers who could do with some help, but, as I said above, it depends where you're living.

Look in the yellow pages for Employment Agencies, and sign up with one or two. You can get a variety of work there, not steady but, once you prove yourself to be reliable, you will get called more and more to do different jobs. Employers sometimes need people for a couple of weeks - sometimes only a day - and you can get some interesting jobs!
Arrived in Auckland on August 6, 2008.Now live in Kawakawa with my kiwi partner.
I just started working at Bay of Islands Hospital at the beginning of December 2009.
Work permit renewed and good until June 2010
EOI submitted and selected, case manager assigned and ITA received. PR application submitted 28/08/09
approved in principle 26/01/10, PR granted and received 19/03/10
