Sub-atomic physics is certainly not my specialty. But it looks like a super-duper atomy smashy research device. Fun stuff for those who have a mind for quarks.

    That didn't last long.

Glitch shuts down 'big bang' collider
    10:30AM Sunday Sep 21, 2008

A technical glitch has forced scientists to shut down the huge particle-smashing machine built to simulate the conditions of the "Big Bang" for at least two months, news agency Reuters reported today.

The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) said there had been a major helium leak yesterday into the tunnel housing the biggest and most complex machine ever made.

The co-called Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in positioned in a hole under the Swiss-French border.

    From here.

I have a very hard time believing the news anymore, this neglect seems too far fetched to believe..What? do they want us to forget about this machine now
and yes, I do believe in conspiracies, I guess we'll have to wait 2 more months to find out if they suck the earth into 2012 or bring alien greys in for support. lol..what is this world coming too?
