I reckon I made more of a contribution by riding my pushbike back to town from Akaroa after Le Race. It hurt like hell, but what's pain when you can save 10 litres of diesel?

Forty lights blaze on the billboard promoting energy efficiency in Downtown Auckland. Photo / Jason Dorday

A billboard that promotes energy efficiency has been lit up by 40 400-watt lamps for about nine hours a night since February.

The ad, on the side of Auckland's Downtown Shopping Centre, is one of five for Right House, a subsidiary of Meridian Energy. A sixth is going up in Wellington next week.

The billboard is due to come down next month and the Government's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority estimates the power used during the three-month campaign will cost up to $2600, enough to power the average four-bedroom home for about a year.

A Right House spokesman says the campaign aims to promote energy-efficient homes using as few sites as possible. The alternative to the downtown Auckland billboard would have been several other smaller sites around the city, which would have used more power.

You really did need a ride back then? Man I feel bad now Christchurch isn't that far from Hamilton that I couldn't have helped out a friend in need now is it?

Soz Koko - you can slap me silly when you comes up ere for my big bothdi bash next year And I shall grin and bear it

Is it me or are WG's posts vair vair daft and chuckly just now. Her texts are going the same way I fink it's since I implanted a dawnctionary in er ead. But she can't cut er leggies off with a bread knife coz they buy sliceded bread in their ousey and she don't use a bread knife for mekin dinner wif anyway. She uses other more suitably apt utensils and you can't exactly slice off your legs with a egg whisk or a plastic spatula or even a cheese grater. A cheese grater accident would be good to watch but as she's a vair vair small and hobbit type person she would cheese grate her midriff off and not her legs and as it is vair vair nearly impossible to grate ones midriff off completely she would just be anging in half like 'Nearly Headless Nick' off of Harry Potter but she would look worse than im coz he's a ghost so you can't see his gooey bits in technicolour like you could ers. This would also make a bit of a slightly large huge mess in her kitchen and this would upset her immensely being the keep it cleany type person that she is and she would run around moppin up her own dripping blood and grated skin and innards which would flick more and more of it everywhere and Jay would just laugh coz that's what he's like and she would too hactually which would make for a gay and humourous scene to behold. I would happily pay to see it if I knew it were going to happen in advance but I can't now coz it's bin and gone and she's still got all her bits which means that she dint even attempt to mek dinner in the dark and they all went to BurgerKing instead.

What the........???

I think she basically means that I am a bit of a clean-freak and never go near a bread knife

Now, getting rid of my midriff with a cheese grater..... bit drastic, but it might just work Taffy, have 111 on speed dial just in case

Considering this post is about Earth Hour, I think it's about time Dawn spent an hour on Earth!

This forum does make me smile. .

I had to read Dawn's post half a dozen times to see if I could understand it. I couldn't. I tried reading it aloud, but couldn't make it to the end in just the one breath she typed it in!

Thanks for the apology though Dawn. Don't feel too bad about it - I would have had to sign up for Earth Decade if you'd driven all the way here just to give me a lift home!

That's because you don't have a Dawnctionary installed in your brain yet, KP
