Air NZ number two long-haul carrier - survey

LONDON - Air New Zealand has been voted the second best long-haul airline behind Virgin Atlantic.

A survey of 30,000 readers of luxury travel bible Conde Nast Traveller picked the carrier, and also voted New Zealand fifth best country, right behind Australia.

Taupo's Huka Lodge scraped into the top five in terms of luxury accommodation.

Auckland airport didn't rate in the top ten.

Phew - that's good to hear as am booking (one-way) tickets to New Zealand today and decided on flights with Air NZ... just go to commit to a leaving date and take the plunge and make that phone call and the tickets are ours

Recently I read that often these surveys are conducted relating to first class only. Some airlines might be great for first class but lousy for steerage class. Caveat emptor.

That said, I found Air NZ to be comfy and pleasant when we've gone over. Not luxurious, but it's a step or two above feeling like you really are traveling in steerage.
