Signature pics

Would it be possible to extend the size of signature pics as I spent ages collecting some festive ones together and only 2 of them were acceptable sizes.

When I say 'acceptable sizes', one pic was showing as 1.98 kb but when I tried to save it I was told that it exceeded the 2kb limit . The other one was 1.80 kb and was 'acceptable' so I saved that although it wasn't the one I wanted to use. However, when I checked to see how it looked, it hadn't appeared at all under my signature.

I finally managed to get it to take a pic which was only 14kb, but it's not showing up under my name. Is something blocking it?

Now there's the problem. Despite Taffy having upped the size limit allowed on pics for the signature box, I'm still having a lot of problems finding anything small enough to fit in there. They need to be under 20kb in size. Most animated pics are too big to use.

I get my smileys from all over the place. This particular one came from here but she's VERY strict about hotlinking so the smileys need to be saved to somewhere on your own PC, like Photobucket, before posting on the forum.

Can't seem to be able to attach a 'smilie' to my signature - have tried photobucket etc... Any suggestions?

I had great difficulty as well, Nicky. Firstly, I tried to upload a pic from my PC but nothing happened. Then I inserted the url from Photobucket and it showed the signature pic under 'Your current signature picture' and I thought I'd finally been successful, but when I looked at my signature, there was no pic showing at all. The only way I got it to show up was to click on 'Insert signature picture' which is in red in the box. I don't know why this is necessary because I'd have thought 'Save signature' would have done the job. Perhaps the pic is seen as separate to the actual signature words. Try it and see if it works BUT remember to keep to the correct file size. Having said that, I tried one that was just below the recommended 20kb and it still said the pic was too big.

I can't find the 'insert signature picture' bit on my user cp. You can tell I have alot of time on my hands now

Let's check you're in the right place first.

User CP - Edit signature - scroll down to Signature picture box which is beneath the Edit signature box. In the Signature picture box, at the top in the centre, you should see Insert signature picture which is a clickable link in red. After you've selected the picture you want to insert and have the link to it showing in either option 1 or option 2, click on the red link.

This is the bit where I found I was having trouble. I can't remember if I clicked Save signature first and saw that it didn't work for the pic and then clicked the Insert picture link or maybe just clicking the red link did it for me. It was certainly trial and error. Try entering the url for your required smiley and then click the red link and check back on the forum to see if anything shows up under your signature. If not, have a mess about with clicking the Save signature thingy, then the Insert signature picture link.

I find I have something that says [S I GPIC][/ S IGPIC] up by the rest of my signature tags in the Edit box now so that must mean that it's accepted the picture. The spaces will normally be omitted - I just put them in so they'd show up properly on here otherwise the PC would see them as an instruction.
