Default Gap to side of page

Hi,

There is an inch gap to the left side of the page. I have to scroll to the right to see the rest of the page.

Is this Taffy tinkering with the site settings or is it my PC? We have today downloaded Internet Explorer 7 - could that have changed things?

:-?

Hi Glenda

As of today, I'm on hubster's lappie as my PC was on the verge of a mid-life crisis and about to have its hard disk die, so has gone for major overhaul. Hubster has IE7 and there's about a 2-3" gap on either side :o. He doesn't have his Favourites running down the lefthand side as I do on my PC, so MTNZ looks a bit lost stuck in the middle of a big empty space.

I'm finding IE7 a bit.....well.....not quite to my liking, as it doesn't seem to have the usual File, Edit, Tools, Help stuff across the top unless it's just that hubster hasn't tweaked them in and other buttons aren't where they used to be so it'll take a bit of getting used to.

Hi Glenda,

You probably need to increase your screen resolution to fit it on the page. ?This forum really needs to be diplayed at 1024x768 as a minimum, where yours is most likely set at 800x600.

You can check/change the setting by minimising everything so you can see your desktop screen, right clicking and selecting 'Properties' from the menu.

When the new window opens, click on the 'Settings' tab. ?You should see a slider to change the Screen Resolution. ?Move it until the numbers say 1024x768 and click 'Apply'. ?The screen should flicker and things look smaller. ?If it all looks ok, then click OK. ?Then come back to the forum and see the benefits :)

MB: to pull up the menu bar in IE 7, press your ALT key on the keyboard.

Brilliant! Many thanks. Doesn't stay there though, does it? Same as my Favourites. I can bring them up and then they disappear again. You get all the rubbish toolbars static at the top, but the stuff you really need is vanished and tucked out of sight. >:(

Totally agree with you MB ... will take some getting used to! >:(

Have changed the resolution Taffy but, well, I think I will keep it as it is ... changing the resolution makes me wonder whether I need reading glasses. :-/

You get used to the smaller writing :)

All (good) new computers are now set to 1024x768 as default, so software and websites is going the same way. Soon you'll have to scroll for everything!

Ah, so that's what's been wrong with hubster's lappie. He kept saying he was going blind and I also find it difficult to read, even with my specs on. Just altered the resolution to a lower setting and it's much bigger. He had it quite high so it's on Taffy's settings now.

Isn't it great when you learn something new? Something good, that is. 8-)
