Now here’s a funny thing. I find that what you select at the bottom doesn’t hold. Whenever I go back into that category (or room), it’s changed back to ‘Last day’ which means I only see any posts from the current or last day that any were posted.

I want to keep it on ‘Beginning’ so I can see all posts. I changed the top left box to Last post time and it didn’t like it. I just got a ‘Website cannot be found page’ and that was with it set to both Ascending and Descending.

With it set to Thread start time, I can get up the last current thread at the top, but then below it is a mixed bag of stuff from different months in 2006 all jumbled up. It’s showing I’m on page 3 too – if I go to page 1, I get ‘Website cannot be found’ again. Towards the bottom I can find some 2007 stuff again. Threads showing chronologically jumbled up are found on other pages as well.

A good example would be to look on General. The boxes are set to Last post time, Last month and Descending and the category is working OK on these settings as far as I can see. I’d assume if you wanted to look at more threads, you’d just select 'Last two months', 'Beginning' etc.

Scrap all that, I’m getting totally screwed up now . With ‘Last post’, ‘Last year’ and either ‘Ascending’ or ‘Descending’ I can bring up more recent posts but they are always to be found on page 2 instead of page 1 and I can’t get consistency as they seem to show a different number of topics each time I go into it.

All I can say is that there is definitely a problem. Even if you can find settings that will b ring up what you want and in the right order, you can’t lock your selection in as it readjusts itself each time you come off the page.

Bugger, had I seen your post and admission of 'guilt' before I posted the above, I could have saved myself a lot of shuffling around between Beginnings, Last Threads, Last Posts and all that mind-bending stuff. Feel quite giddy now .

I find this new forum to be a bit smiley-unfriendly. If we use more than 4, we're given a smack on the wrist. I realise that some folks will be glad we're restricted to only 4, but sometimes it's good to throw in just a few more, especially if we've got something to celebrate.

Old posts also won't tolerate me trying to edit smileys that have corrupted codes and I can't replace them with the new ones. It often alters the whole meaning of a post if I have to remove the smileys altogether.

Many thanks. I won't go the whole hog to discover just how many we are allowed, but it's good to give power to the little people.

Really, really don't mean to be picky ... but will those smilies get sorted out at any time?

I mean, it takes so long for them to load up and then I'm looking up and down and up again looking for a particular smilie. Now, OK, that is my problem - but there is no order to the smilies, no groupings, to make it any easier.

They are ordered by number now, so at least they stay still! But you are right, it takes to long to load up, and most of them are rubbish anyway!

Much as I love smileys, I would agree with Glenda. I often spend ages trawling through them to find the one I want. Previously they were in some order, either alphabetically or numerically and it was much easier.

Edited to add: electrician is working on our phone line as well as our electrics and plumbing (work that one out!) and my Internet connection is very slow so Taffy beat me to it. Will be good to have them sorted and some of the rubbish removed.

Ok, I've sifted out the obvious rubbish!

Take a look through and make a post of all the ones you want to see removed too. Gives me an indication of whats useful and whats not. I can just delete the post after the sort out then.
