Logging on

This isn?t technically an enhancement, but it?ll feel like one to me if you can put me straight as to why, when I log on sometimes, my name appears at the bottom, but it doesn?t show me as logged in at the top and I can?t perform any tasks until I log on a second time. Perhaps it?s only when I?m on certain screens and not on the front page? I haven?t got myself set to log on automatically, as I tend to do it manually when I?m posting and don?t bother when I?m just reading. Having to log in a second time can be a bit frustrating, especially when I?ve got some earth-shattering or groundbreaking post to put on (as if!) and time is of the essence.

never have that problem MB. It is set to auto log in but even when i change PCs (work or family) it's never happened.

What you have to realise, Stevey, is that I?m special. As Taffy will readily confirm, all you have to do is stick me in front of a computer and it?ll go haywire. I don?t know how I do it, it must be a talent I have. I don?t even have to try very hard, it just comes naturally. There?s been many a time I?ve had Taffy scratching his head in amazement at my convoluted computer problems. I could keep a computer engineer in work full-time.

I'm afraid to say altho I'm sure some will differ. It's a woman thing I'm sure. Claire can manage to break eveything from the PC to the DVD player. Fortunately our washing up brush is fairly indestructable along with the hoover and cooker :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:

That happens to me on another forum. It's probably got to do with cookies....I've tried to allow it on the other site but still getting the same thing.

Stinks b/c you can't see the "posts since you last visited" so you kind of have to manually search for the new stuff.

I've had this problem, Mother Bear, and it is most annoying to have to log on twice. I have got round it by logging on and saving the logged-in page on my 'favourites' so that whenever I go to Move To New Zealand I am automatically logged on.

Mind you, having said that, I do presume I am not permanently logged on. :icon_confused: :icon_lol:

It's the forum software that does that. I've had that problem myself too. Easiest option is to click the 'log me in automatically' box, and it will sign you on whenever you visit the site from the same PC.

It's only advisable to not check that box if someone you don't trust uses your computer and might do silly things! Other than that, it's the best way.
