Default A Nerd Question

Members statuses on other forums of this type, I am a member of a few very nerdy, geeky computing ones, are decided by the number of posts they have made.
Is this the same here?
WHEN I move to New Zealand will that affect my status, or is it only dependant on post count?
The reason I ask is; if it depends on location I want mine to be "YES, YES, YES". When I eventually get there.

Unfortunately, your status changes automatically according to the number of postings you have done.

You could always put a 'Yes Yes Yes' in your profile or your signature though...... ::):

I'm not a php programmer, I have a life and prefer Perl, but there are some forums that allow you to change your status when you have reached a certain number of posts, the oft missed Galah was one.

Just a thought.

The only way to change your status is to make certain amounts of posts, or get me to change it for you. Sadly, as I dont have a life, being a PHP programmer, I couldn't do it for you :icon_wink:

So the lie promise of $100 wouldn't persuade you to make me "Gonna get there"?

Thanks.
I can't believe I've met another programmer here.
What are you doing at work? Not php I hope.
I can write Perl scripts for you if you want, but why?
The advantages Perl had 5 years ago don't exist now, the .net StringBuilder object and other .net string functionality coupled with modern processor speeds make script languages reduntant, apart from javascript.
And that's just because it's not Microsoft......Glen getting on his soap box again.

I'm developing Windows and web applications for a local council.
Using C#.net front-ends, asp.net for the web applications, for SQL Server 2000 and Oracle 9i databases.

Well, i've got to write a perl interface that creates a specific XML page, sends it off to a server, then receives an XML response back, and parses the results. Simple as that! Only I dont know much about perl....

PM me if you can help, so we dont bore everyone on here to death :icon_biggrin:

And yes, my language of choice is PHP but mostly because I work with unix servers :icon_biggrin:

In that case, i'll take the opportunity to mention that it needs to be done as a CGI so it's accessible as a web interface. There are custom perl modules which need to be used, which are part of the DNRS system.

The XML parsed has to conform to the DTD provided as part of this system.

The response received from the remote server is a formatted XML response which needs to be usable in regards to reformatting it for HTML layout / output to the website.

So basically, someone enters something in to a form, which gets sent off using a set of perl modules. The script then needs to capture the response and output it to the website.

I have a command line version of the interface available to see, but it needs to be altered to work as a web page.

I'm not making this stuff up! This is really what I need to do!
