Talking To whom it may concern

Certain people in the Radio Room yesterday, were party to various slurs against my reputation as a children's hairdresser and also as a mother. The terms 'basin' and 'scarred for life' cropped up more than once, so I'll let you be the judges of whether these terms were justified or not. Please bear in mind that I have never, and I'll be the first to admit it, had any professional training in hairdressing so this was more a cost-cutting exercise than a wish to dazzle folks with my scissorial skills.

There was also mention of a certain 'sparkly green sweater' and I'd hoped to come up with a photo of said sweater to prove it wasn't as twinkly and girly as Taffy made it sound when it ended up on his brother. However, the photo managed to elude me, but I'll keep looking. Problem is that all my photos are packed away as it was anticipated that we'd be leaving here by the end of the year.

Oh, but I would mention to Taffy that, whilst rummaging round in this one lot of photos, I did come across certain others that might just find their way on here at a later stage - one particular one involving a pair of green woolly tights and a long tail. Just thought I'd throw that in so that Taffy may, in future broadcasts, be encouraged to discuss some of my merits as a mother, rather than batter the airwaves with stories of my cruelty because I gave him and his bro basin haircuts and sewed their clothes myself.

Photos are of Taffy and his older brother at the height of their basin-ness, his brother as he is now (who said he's been scarred for life?) and hubster who now has the benefit of my years of experience as a basin haircutter. God bless him, he's always appreciative, unlike some people.

Those haircuts aren't that bad, especially not for wee laddies who are too young to know a tonsure from a mullet. As far as I could tell, it's Taffy's bro who got the less fashionable haircut. Judging by the brother's current photo, he is happy and unscarred by trauma. All kinds of normal people wear silly headbands when paparazzi are nearby. What of it? And Mr. Bear's haircut is a nice execution of a popular style.

My mother had a way of taking a simple trim and giving me a pixie cut. "Oops, a little too short on that side, better even out the other. ...Oops, that's a little too short over there now... ...Well, you didn't want to shake your geek image anyway." I've been nervous about haircuts ever since, but am getting better this last year.

Nice one Bear - that'll teach them to diss your hairdressing skills (or lack of, in their case) on air

I didn't realize that MoveToNZ Radio featured the 'Jerry Springer Show.' Now I see what I miss by going to be early on a Saturday night!

You don't know the half of it, KH. Talk about hanging out the dirty linen......... Be aware, everything gets dragged out. It's all a bit one-sided though because the presenters have the power to broadcast what they like to all and sundry worldwide, but us minions can only respond by typing messages in our defence, which only those taking part in the Radio Room can read.

At the moment it's the Batter the Bear Show but I'm sure, at some point, they'll run out of fuel and look elsewhere for entertainment. Having said that, the highlight of this last show was an indepth discussion about faecal matter and why dog poo is white, so there is an undercurrent of seriousness amidst all the madness (if you have a strong stomach).

Perhaps it would be best to pass on that rerun.

KH and Koko you really have no idea how much fun you are missing by not tuning in, you can phone in and have your say live on air as well so ignore MB's protests about our power hungry ways it's all rumour mongering I tell thee. Make sure you tune in next time, even my 5 year old Poppy had her say this week answering questions from other kids back in the UK, come on get involved. And if you're ever up this way drop in and gerron radio yoursen.

I don't know why the topic of conversation turned to poo this week, we just let it meander where it would. We shall try to make our next broadcast poo-free but I can't promise that Taffy won't turn up more harrowing stories from his childhood, he has been deeply scarred after-all and talking about his experiences after all this time, is vair vair cathartic for him. Now the flood-gates have been opened you just don't know what could come through (although fingers crossed no more poo!)

Those pics are great MB and the hair cut's are fine- no where near as bad as the pics of my OH when he was a lad- thay were bad.

I cut my girls hair 'cos I refuse to pair the money at the hairdressers.

As for the rest of the show- was glad to tune in even if it did turn into a broadcast about poo and poopy!(sorry Dawn).

Jessica ask's about Pooopy now whenever I log onto the forum- looks like hse got herself a new friend.

No, those haircuts aren't bad for wee kids, but you try carring that on until you're 16, then it's not so funny
