Pulsar - Rotorua doesn't smell that bad. Of course I grew up with sulfur water, so it actually reminded me of childhood. I'm not sure how others would describe the smell (rotten eggs? it's not that bad is it!?)

If it smelt like rotten eggs, surely noone would go. It does however smell like eggs if Mauna Loa/Kea(spelt?) - Hawaii was anything to go by.

When I went there I didn't find it that offensive to my nose.

You all look totally different to the Beach Pic. Younger.

Ah, Rotorua memories! I forgot to get photos of the sheep and dog buildings in Tirau. Gotta love those roadside attractions. The dogwash idea is great - never saw one of those before. Thanks for the photos, MB.

Yes, Rotorua does have an air about it, though it is not so stinky as some other geothermal areas I've been to.

Wow, a house already! Congrats to all the family.

If it smelt like rotten eggs, surely noone would go. It's really not that bad as there's plenty of otherwise fresh air floating about to mix with it, especially if there's a stiff breeze blowing. Parts smelt eggy, but the rest had quite a different smell, sort of 'burnt with a hint of fruit'. Often we were enveloped in the steam and we lived to tell the tale.
You all look totally different to the Beach Pic. Younger. It's all that squinting in the bright sunlight on Mt. Maunganui beach that's distorted our Peter Pan youthful looks. Now you know the truth. :icon_biggrin:

I've put the last of our NZ pics onto the Yahoo site now. The new ones are mixed through with the previous ones, so it's just as easy to click on View Slideshow at top right and let the screen take you through them. Give your mouse a shake now and again, as the display can lock up otherwise. Sorry there aren't more interesting ones, but we didn't make it to half the places we'd hoped to visit, as moving house and the assorted problems that came with it took over.

Lovely pictures MB.
Funny..... All of similar stuff to ours, like police cars and streets and hills. Ha ha, we must all like to see how the other side is compared to where we are now. I'm going to show my parents your slideshow so they know we are not going to the moon. Thanks. Good luck in your new house and venture with Taffy and Welshgirl.
