Default Now what do I do?

Trying to pack with the NZ trip drawing ever nearer, but another family member seems intent on coming as well. Whenever I lifted Chunky out of the case (a feat in itself as he's big and heavy), he jumped straight back in again and I'm not too lively on my feet these days to be one step ahead of him. When I finally managed to keep him off long enough to shut the lid, he installed himself on top. I think the thought is 'Either I'm coming as well or I won't let you pack'.

All this packing is tiring work

That's not true, I'm quite looking forward to their visit!

Are you quite sure now? ?There's still time for me to break the other ankle. ?It's no problem, I have all the gear now, crutches, walking cast, support bandages etc. ?Pity to see them go to waste. ?

I truly wish I could. I know he'll be intensely miserable during the time he's boarding at the vet's. Last time we were away for only 2 weeks and he'd lost so much weight I hardly recognised him. When he came back home, he disappeared for 2 days in fear that he'd have to go back there again. This time we're going for 3 weeks so it certainly won't be any better. Understandibly he just hates being locked up in a tiny cage and, unfortunately that's all that's available here.

I'm sure he'd be delighted but a) we wouldn't now have enough time to make arrangements and b) G has just had a fit when I told him how much it costs to ship a cat to NZ (not that we know how much from here, but doubt it's much less than from the UK). So, it looks like Chunks will have to grin and bear it at the vet's. He must know what's coming, as he's eating us out of house and home at the moment.

It's probably more from there as you'll have to pay for quarantine on top of everything else!

Poor Chunky. We had a cat who would also fast while at the vet's. Fortunately we never had to board him more than a day or two when he needed medical attention while we were away. Perhaps you can send him with a once-worn T shirt or something that has your scent on it. That might not persuade him to eat, but could be a comfort. Too bad you cand't get a letter from your doctor saying he's a "seeing eye cat" and put him in your carry-on :icon_biggrin: .
