Default Now what do I do?

Awww bless him. We're really struggling to decide what to do with cats when we come. Some days I want to keep them and bring them, others I'll be glad to be rid of them after they've tortured a vole to death, or IBS'd all over our floor again, or just plain ignored us.

Yes, I fancy a lot of people have been torn when deciding whether to take Felix or Rover along with them to NZ. It?s a big expense and a lot of hassle, but all comes down to how big a part they play in the family line up. Our two are major players in our family and where we go, they go (so far, anyway). Catching voles, mice, birds etc. is some of what a cat is all about, much as we find it cruel and distasteful. We get off lightly here as there isn?t much that shows itself long enough to be caught other than geckos and scorpions and the birds seem too fast for the cats, so I don?t often get presented with the latest offering.

I suppose it?s down to how much you all feel towards your cats as to whether you decide to take them with you or not. If I absolutely had to leave ours behind, I?d have to convince myself that they were with someone I knew well and whom I?d be 100% sure would take good care of them.

That's it isn't it. It comes down to how much you need them I think. Don't get me wrong I would never leave them unless I knew they would be as happy or happier but at the end of the day, unlike dogs, cats tend to be fine as long as they're fed. I'm sure they would love the next door neighbour more than us if they started feeding them juicy felix cat food when we only feed them dry food.

It is sooo expensive tho, and you've got to think what else you can do with the grand (at least) shipping fees, and how traumatic the journey itself will be for them.

You haven't met my cats. Sure, they might adjust to having another human in their life, but my kitty-sitting friends tell us how lonely and lovey our cats are when we're gone. Even the shy one has let a kitty sitter hold her because she's so desperate for love. And my OH tells me that they will wander around calling for me when I'm out of town. I couldn't possibly let them become someone else's Mama's girls!

Taffy, I recall someone very close to you mentioning yesterday that she was going to post some pics of your new furry Mafia. Disappointed to see they aren't on yet :'( . You know how I like a good drool.

Sincerest apologies MB - I couldn't remember how to do it offhand, and it was very late and I didn't have the will to search around on the forum for instructions. Meant to ask Taffy 'how to' this morning, but I forgot :-[

I believe they're on there for all to see now though ;D

Yes, many thanks. I'm happy now. Well, as happy as I can be until I come down and see them for myself. ;D
