Glenda, from your comment above, it seems like you may have some more photos to post. I'm sure everyone would love to see them, when you have time, that is. Taffy's saying this facility isn't used very much to warrant the upload link being posted as a sticky at the top of the category, so we'll just have to make sure that it is used to prove him wrong! :icon_biggrin:

I'm sure you'll make good use of the facility, I meant the Website Enhancements section isnt used often, so the post will remain at the top for a long time!

Er, yes, but I was thinking more of the sticky going at the top of the Photos n' Things category rather than Website Enhancements, as that is where most people will go if they want to post pics. If there is no new posting on Website Enhancement, no one will look in there and I would think that newish people wouldn't know to look in there for the link. If it's firmly in place at the head of the category we won't have to go hunting around for it. The link is also mentioned in Photos n' Things but is already starting to slide down under the weight of the other topics. Just my thoughts.

Glenda - I loved being in the BOI. Unfortunately the weather was rainy most of the time, so I didn't take many photos. Thanks for the reminders of what it is like. Lots of painting fodder there. Have you tramped to Rainbow Falls or Marsden Cross yet?

So that's the rental with the impending rain of ants, eh? I had pictured something less spiffy containing secret cabals of formic ninjas. :027:

Hi Selchie,

Yes, when it rains in Northland it sure can rain. We have been on the Rainbow Falls walk, and were actually out and about today exploring areas to the west where we can tramp. We've picked out two places - Puketi Forest and Wairere Boulders Nature Park near Hokinga Harbour.

BTW the ants have started [smiley=icon_eek.gif] [smiley=icon_exclaim.gif] - not raining yet but unorganised 'baby' ones crawling about in daugher's upstairs bedroom. Have the spray and the poison for the nest. Just waiting for the right moment to pounce. ::)

Just adding a couple of more piccies. ?

Firstly, daughter doing some shopping ... taken at Universal Studios, LA. ?Great place to visit.


Two of my boys resting by a kauri in Puketi Forest. ?The youngest ran ahead in the forest on a hour long walk and we lost him. ? [smiley=icon_eek.gif] ?There was absolutely no one else about, in the forest or carpark. ?We waited a while in the car park for him to emerge, but he didn't. ?So we went back into the forest and I went one way, my eldest went the other and we called his name every now and again. ?Soon found him hot and tearful ... guess he's now learned the lesson of 'sticking together'.

Went on a walk to Marsden Cross (brought to our attention by Selchie ? [smiley=023.gif] ), where a cross marks the place where the first Christmas service to be held in NZ in 1814. ?Why anyone would want it on that hill ...? ?Anyway, a very nice walk through hilly meadows with ewes and lambs. ?Again, we did not see a sole - on the walk, in the car park or on the roads within 5km. ?Probably different in summer. ?Down there somewhere on the beach like ants are my kids (shows how high I am).

We may have seen one person when we took the tramp to Marsden Cross. I recall a brief cloudburst along the way, so we ducked under a nearby tree. I turned my head, and nearly put my eye out on a two-inch thorn! Not sure what the tree was, but I don't think I want one in my garden, pretty as it was.
