    Default Hamilton comes alive!

As part of the Balloons over Waikato festival, there is an early evening procession of all the baskets belonging to the air balloons. As the procession passes, the flares that are used to inflate the balloons are activated giving quite a dramatic display.

Tomorrow night - Night Glow. Let's hope my camera is up to it.

Yeah....OK...so I left the camera back in the car . It's thanks to Taffy trudging back to the car to fetch it that I managed to capture most of the action.

Sadly there was no Night Glow for us last night because the courtesy bus we waited for to take us to the event didn't turn up and we found that the event had started earlier than we had expected, so we finally decided not to wait any longer as we would miss it anyway.

To make up for our disappointment, we made an early start this morning for the final day when all the balloons would by flying and take part in a competition. You can see Jack-in-the-box from America as he inflates and takes to the air. Click to enlarge.

Last one that should have appeared above and a shot of Hamilton Lake just after sunrise.

    Default Hamilton Lake

For anyone coming to Hamilton either for a visit or to live, I would heartily recommend a walk around the lake, especially on a nice, sunny day. The round trip is about 4 km. long with seating along the way for those who want to rest and take in the view. There are many pukekos, ducks and geese to see as well as native plantings.
