To put it in S.A. context - non-sworn positions is like your charge office and other support staff, administrative staff etc. Your normal Policemen are sworn members.
Non-sworn positions can be applied for without PR. Only WP is required.
That is the route I am going to follow.
I am still stuck in S.A. Flying over beginning of Oct. '08.
Sorry, just to add - what are non-sworn positions?
I imagine he'd be excluded from those too just because he'd still need to complete the 5 months training which he cant do without PR? I think they're more lenient on people who were full-time, paid police officers than they are on reservists. They didnt seem to understand that he worked the hours without being paid.
He did go to the seminar and was told that until he had PR he wasnt even allowed to begin the testing. He's very down about it.
Our permanent residence application is being held up by my medicals and we arent sure when it will come through.
The only other real info was around the testing process and the training. Next training period begins in February and I think he said it would mean 17 weeks in Wellington. He has the booklets at home - whereabouts are you?
