We paid about 5000 for 2 rottweilers and a border terrier in 2008 with Golden Arrow. We are now waiting to ship themn back to the UK at a cost of approx $12000 (5500). Thats how much we love our dogs !!!

I didn't realise you'd returned to the UK without your dogs, Nicky. You must miss them a lot . Hope you can be reunited soon and they have a comfortable trip back.

We last saw them six months ago. It is like leaving your children Can't wait to see them when we go back. Hopefully if we get tennants we can then rent in UK and bring the dogs back.

    Default Golden arrow

    Hi nickydwuk

yeah there's no way i'm parting with them

i spoke to the guy from golden arrow yesterday & i am awaiting their quote

    seems like a nice guy

their approach seems more personal than the others we have tried

    how did you find them?

Also how did you find new zealands attitude to dogs?

    Regards

I would whole heartedly recommend Golden Arrow. They weren't the cheapest but not the most expensive but they seemed to care which was important to us. They even called us when we got to NZ to let us know thaty they had left safely and checked that they had arrived. The dogs were none the worse for their journey. I should add that the price did include 4 weeks kennelling in the UK as we wanted to be settled before the dogs came over.

As for the Kiwi attitude to dogs - we were disappointed to say the least. We had hoped we could take them for long rambling walks like we did here in the UK but there are so many restrictions. Most areas only allow dogs on a lead and some no dogs at all. A lot of the land is farm land so that is understandable but the public parks etc... are very limited for dogs - even out in the sticks where we lived. You also need to register your dogs each year (a good thing) and if you keep more than 3 dogs you need special permits and permission from your neighbours too. Saying that we did find an OK place to take them and they seemed to enjoy it. We just want them home with us now. :(

    Default dogs

    Thanks for the recommendation
i think we are leaning towards golden arrow especially due to the kenneling factor
your confirmation of kiwi attitude to dogs is what i suspected
however it is becoming more restrictive here as well
then again still haven't received any blue stickers yet so it is all speculation
