    Default One thing after another!!!!

    Hi guys

Has anyone ever had to make a claim on their shipment? Also anyone been with PSS?

I have had a call today with good news that our shipment is arrived and been cleared by customs and MAF not interested and it's all ready for delivery next week .

The bad part- when they were unloading the container at port (we had a shared load) they noticed 2 holes in the top of the container and soem of our things have been water damaged. I have no idea what to expect and haven't been able to get hold of Neil yet to tell him but he aint gonna be too happy. He has 3 computers in the shipment not to mention all our books and photos etc. Really don't know what to expect but they want to get it delivered asap so we can get the claim in process.

Oh hell, that's not good news. You'd have thought they would have checked the container out before loading it. It must have been apparent then that there was daylight coming through the roof of it unless, of course, the damage occurred while the container was under way.

Was the container stored outside in the UK or in a warehouse? Let's hope that it's only the boxes that are damaged and not the contents. Keep us posted and, meanwhile, we'll hope for the best.

As you know, we had our container delivered about 4 weeks ago .. and whilst we didn't have water damage, there was some damage and a couple of breakages.

Our insurance was the one supplied via PSS. Contacted PSS, and they very promptly emailed me the details of the insurance company (not PSS as I'd assumed), and a claim form. Submitted a claim the day after our delivery, via email ... that was acknowledged but haven't heard a dicky bird since.

Will keep my fingers crossed that there isn't too much damage to your conatiner, and shall keep you all posted on the progress of our claim.

    all the best,
    Lou

The damage was done on the journey and cos the holes were on the top the damage wasn't seen until they started emptying it out at this end.

Delivery is being made on monday morning- they're getting it out to us quick.

Lou did you take the Statutory insurance or the Marine insurance? In my paper work it says the marine insurance you have to claim with the insurance provider and the statutory you claim through the insurance dept at PSS.

Will let you know how everything is when i get it on monday.

It never rains, but pours eh? Here's hoping that nothing too precious was damaged.

On the subject of claiming - our container has been delivered and although nothing major was damaged we have had a foot pump broken and some scratches on the units. I don't think I individually itemised the foot pump. Is it worth claiming for these minor indiscretions - especially as it may involve calls to the UK.

The way I see it, I paid a fortune for the insurance, as our stuff was in storage for ages prior to shipment, so may as well submit a claim and see what happens. Got nowt to lose eh?

    hi nick,
We found a cheaper way to call internationally i.e. via skype credits. The call quality to fix line is pretty loud and clear. Now hubby has no problem calling back to homecountry's banks or gov bodies to sort out his own stuff.

Well we had our things delivered today. Neil was at work so it was down to me (with the help of a great friend) to sort through everything.

I was dreading the delivery after what we had been told but seems no where near as bad as we were expecting. I haven't yet unpacked everything and we do have a few damages so willbe making a claim.

The kids are very happy with all their toys and books etc- all safe. I am in the process of washing all my clothes 'cos they all smell musty and damp.

Neil has yet to start on all his boxes of computer things and whatever other junk he brought.

Feeling much better now anyway now knowing whats what.
