    Has anyone taken this out?

Am trying to suss out how much it would cost for a family of 4 ... just to cover the return to the UK in the event of something happening to either our parents, siblings or grandparents.

This gives you a general guide for repatriation but haven't gone through the nuts and bolts of it so I don't know if it just covers holiday use rather than for immigration purposes. Some of the others I've looked at seem to relate to holiday use only i.e. as part of your travel insurance, as you have to state a time limit for coverage.

This is one that covers immigration though.

Didn't even know there was such a thing - bet the premiums are sky high!! Have you got any quotes in yet? All I would say is check the terms and conditions of the policy VERY carefully, I'm sure there are many many exclusions on such a policy.

I spoke to Kinsure a few months ago - their worldwide family policy then was just 90 - seems to have gone up since then!! It covers you and your family for air fares back to UK or wherever the family member is up to a maximum of 5000 per year - they can include accomodation too. It will only cover you for family members up to age 75 - so if you have elderly relatives then it might not be worth it. They need evidence from the hospital that the person has been or will be hospitalised for 3 dyas or more or has passed away. I questioned whether it covered if my family member had a termianl illness and was dying but did not want to go to hospital. I wouldn't want to wait until they had passed away before I saw them. He checked it out and said as long as a doctor confirmed that the person would have been in hospital for 3 days or more but chose not to we would be covered.
