Sorry Nicky - didn't mean to take all the credit ...

As regards the phone, we bought a NZ vodafone sim card on ebay .. worked a treat for a fraction of the cost ;-)

New Vodafone SIM cards are $35 here, how much did you get yours for Lou?

Think it was £7 inc p+p AND had some credit left on it!

Was a bit of a bargain .. trouble is, between buying it and coming over to NZ in april, the credit had expired, but it did mean we could start giving friends and family NZ contact details.

Default Arrange for handover files from Doctor and Dentist

When I was trying to get to sleep last night this was one of the things that was keeping me awake "arrange for handover files from Doctor and Dentist", that is a great idea, how do you go about doing this, do I just ring my doctor and tell them I'm moving to NZ and give me a copy of my medical records, or will they know what I mean if I just ask for handover files?

Sorry for asking this as I could probably just ring the Dr and find out - but I'm trying not to use the phone cos I'm waiting for the solicitor to ring with news about exchanging contracts...

Yep, should be as simple as that - just ring your GP surgery and explain you're moving to NZ so need copies of any records they hold. It may take a few days and they'll probably charge you a fee for the service but it's a good idea to take your records with you to NZ, especially if you've got any significant medical history that any NZ doctor will need to know about.

If we haven't visited our doctor in the last few years is it necessary to get medical records?

It's entirely up to you, you don't have to bring them - I didn't. If there's nothing you really need your NZ doctor to know, save yourself the cost

Thats what I thought. I asked our dentist and she said that she didn't hink there would be aneed for our dental records as any dentist woul dbe able to tell what had been going on. Just need to sort out school records. Will their end of year report & SATS & GCSE results be enough?
