You'll probably be sleeping, Lou! However, if you're not sleeping then we have a concrete water tank base to break up (and a new tank to be plumbed in). We'll most likely have several cars that require some form of cleaning and/or servicing too. So, don't worry, we'll keep you occupied

If you'd rather do the more boring tourist type thing though, we'll fill you in on the best bits when you get here

Oh that's such a shame ... all my overalls have gone into storage :-(

No - can't sleep ... got 4 days only to enjoy New Zealand so going to try and stay awake as much as possible (I know - probably deluding myself). Arrive in auckland at 5am Monday 7th, so figured sleep etc can happen that day in my hotel room ... anyone know if the Hotel Ibis Tainui is OK? Then I have 3 full days to sightee and explore .. and drink tea ;-)

Lou

Only one review to go on unfortunately, but sounds OK unless you're a smoker.

I like your style Taffy.

Make sure she checks out the local drinking establishments (usual thing, photo's of the bar/Beers Served/Prices). Also, make sure she buys me lots or presents as I will have had a hard week looking after the kids!

Have they said what type of test it will be? I had to do some psychometric tests recently as part of a recruitment process and was really stressed about doing them but managed to get practice ones to do beforehand which helped heaps.

All they do is drill holes in your skull and plant electrodes in to your brain to measure activity when faced with certain circumstances. With you, Lou, they will probably show you certain IT related scenarios to judge how you cope under stress. With Jon, they will tell him that beer is no longer in production. It doesn't hurt too much and apart from a slight slurring of your speech and hardly visible scars, there's no side effects.

Some years ago I very stupidly worked for a short time for a 'high class' corporate recruitment and training company - I used to give out and mark these tests. Lou, there a piece of you know what Don't stress about it, do you think they would have flown you half away across the world if they didn't think that you could pass the test? It's not about passing it, it's about aptitude. They're just trying to find out more about you, get an angle on you before they offer you a dead cert. They don't want to offer the job to someone that's gonna mess them about and then change their mind and not come anyway. It's a way of getting your measure without the intrusive electrodes Taf mentioned - they go up your arse

Really though, you will be knackered. The jet lag is huge. We slept for a month when we got here. It will knock you for 6. BUT may I suggest trying to see practical things that you will have to live with every day instead of doing the nicey touristy stuff. There'll be plenty of time for that when you're here. Have a good look around Hamilton and check it has everything you are looking for, drive or be driven around some of the suburbs, check out the coffee shops (job for me and WG ), estate agents. That's what we wanted to know when we were making our decision about whether to stay or move on.

A little advice for you, it's still at least 25 degrees in the daytime here. Some days we have intermittent cloud but when the sun comes out it's hot. I'm still in shorts and little strappy tops and so are the kids - they don't suit Charlie but he won't listen! Don't pack April UK stuff coz it's more like a vair vair good few and far between August UK day most of the time. It does get colder at night though, between 8 and 12 degrees so you are gonna want a sweater but you won't need a coat. I haven't worn one since we got here last July!! Good eh

Good advice After all, you will be living an everyday life there and won't be on holiday. Get down to the nitty gritty.
