Default Travel Insurance!

Just a quick one I hope.

For those who went to NZ on VVand applied for PR one secured job offers etc: did you take out travel insurance to cover you until PR was granted, if so does anyone have any recomendations?

Beth

We didn't take out insurance, you're covered for all emergency treatment on a VV so didnt think it was worth it. I would think travel insurance was only worthwhile if you wanted to cover all other events such as losing your suitcases or theft etc.

I don't have any recommendations sorry, never used anyone! I would think most insurance policies are pretty much the same these days.

Are you sure that you are covered for all emergencies? I thought only for accidents but not illness.

We had a travel insurance (with NZI)

Thumbs up

Hi Ebianca,

Before we went to NZ for our look / see trip last August we took out family travel insurance for less than ?55.00 for the year!

This could be used for multiple trips to most places. Seemed really reasonable and appeared to provide excellent cover.

I will find the details out for you if you are interested?

Can't see any reason why you couldn't use same policy whilst you are on VV.

Mel.

I have looked at a few companies offering family annual travel insurance. On reading the 'small print' you are only coverd for trips of so many days at a time (usually about 30) you are not covered for a whole year and as it may be 4 months or so before we have PR visas these aren't that much use.

Have you looked at NZI (NZ Travel Insurance)? I can't find anything about restrictions in my documentation...
