Unhappy Spanner in the works!!

Hey guys.

The OH had a job interview yesterday (not for NZ).

It is for a very high profile Project Management job- a great opportunity.
The job will be based in Leicester which will require us to move.

If he gets this job it will be putting off our plans for NZ for probably at least 2 years- maybe longer as he wants to make the most of the job and the money that will come with it.

Anyway i'm hoping that if he gets the job and we move and have more income that he won't change his mind on NZ- the new income could make a better life for the kids here and then if we got to NZ we wouldn't have that same kind of money so would be like going back down the ladder again.

Who know's what is going to happen now (if he gets the job).

Anyway thought i'd share it with you guys and see what everyone thinks.

My main worry is Jessica- she has just started school and the if we move to leicester that means moving schools and then to move again to NZ after a couple of years is a lot of upheavel for her.

Fingerscrossed for hubby's new job opportunity, if that's what you both want. Great opportunities don't come along very often so grab it.

Would be a shame if we lose you off the forum though as you've been a driving force and helped keep things moving along.

Thanks MB.

Just playing things by ear for now.

No chance of losing me off here- i'll still be coming on- afterall we still want to come to NZ just won't be in the very near furture and where else will I get abuse live on radio

They will be letting him know if he has made second round of interviews next week- he feels quite confident that he has and he got on pretty well with the person who interviewed him yesterday.

Anyone know what Leicester is like- I have never been.

Leicester? Leicester? Oh my God, Leicester! You can't seriously mean Leicester? Well, I could tell you a thing or two about Leicester, but as I've never been there it would all be made up.

Well, what a spanner indeed! I suppose you need to go with whatever gives you the best life for all the family. The only thing that seems to to offer a better life in the UK is more money

Hope it all works out anyway, whatever path you are on!

The demigod that is our Taf speaks wisely - 'The only thing that seems to offer a better life in the UK is more money'. Ummm strokey beard with one eyebrow raised (WG can't do that!).

Beth, only you and yours know what is right for you and yours. Don't worry about Jess, kids are vair vair adaptable and having to cope with new situations and make new friends will be good for her, as long as you don't move every 5 mins she'll be good.

Good luck hun!

Right there's a seat up for grabs in our 'letsgohaveunadulteratedfun' mobile. Any takers?

Crikey Beth .. that is a mighty spanner.

I have no words of advice - only you and your OH can decide what is best for yourselves and your children.

My only advice is that things seem to have a reason for happening .. fate has a habit of leading you to a certain path.

All the best .. and good luck to your OH,

Lou

Hi,

There's always something that changes our plans isn't there! Our immi officer nicely changed our plans when he gave us our ITA! But hey, we just moved what our original plans were to later in the year once the ITA is in...

You just need to relook at your plan and begin a new one. If it is better money then that's more money and more experience for coming across here with, hopefully the immi process may have changed by then as well and it may be easier to come in - you never know!

You just have to go with the flow and not let it get you down too much. You two will know what's best for you and enjoy what ever decision you make.

Good luck with it all and I hope it turns out the way you want it to.

I have a similar predicament. I too have just started a new job - it is a job I have wanted since I qualified last year. The big question is - do we continue with our plans to come to NZ next September or delay it for a couple of years by which time I might be really settled and not want to go and the kids will be older and more settled again? I can understand where you are coming from and only time will tell.
