Default Time scale for shipping dog from UK

Things look as though they maybe moving a little quicker so thought we'd better start getting things organised.

Our new plan (for the next few hours until we come up with another) is to come to NZ Jan 2008 with or without our PR.

Soooo .. our 7 month retriever is up to date with her injections but not sure what she needs to come to New Zealand? Rabies jabs? Blood tests? How long do we need to get her innoculated etc?

TIA

Lou

Hi Lou,

Everything they need is listed here: Taking Pets To New Zealand

The only thing dogs dont need is a rabies shot if coming from the UK. Although I'm not sure about Somerset

Lou, if you've chosen a pet shipper that's going to deal with your dogs, perhaps contact them to see if they have a schedule that you can follow as quite a few things need to be done. I know some of them do supply this and it lists what has to be done and when so it should be easy enough to follow.

Come on now Maggie, you have to admit that there's a few people down that way who most certainly suffer from rabies - ZL's mum being one according to Jon! But we won't go there....

We know you are lovely though Maggie, so we'll let you off Oh, Jon and Lou too, you're also off the hook

Getting back kind of on topic. Any thoughts on dog friendly hotels/campsites. It's been bugging me a bit about what we will do with the dog when we first get out in NZ. We might get her shipped out a week after we arrive to give us time to buy a camper or trailer tent so we have somewhere to stay while we travel around, but that then begs the question of what dog friendly campsites are like and if there are many dog friendly hotels!.

Failing that, does anyone know anybody that would be willing to look after a 1 year old Golden retriever for a few weeks!!!!
