Default Golf Clubs, Kayaks, Canoes

Following on from the wifelets question about Bicycles. Is it really the case you can't bring in Golf Clubs? Also, I have a plastic play kayak and a wooden canoe that I am still building, can I bring these over?

Many thanks in advance.

Banjo Jon

Hi Jon,

I think the same goes for golf clubs as it does bikes. They need to be cleaned really well! The plastic kayak, same again, but the wooden canoe probably wouldnt be allowed in as it's made of wood. Few wooden objects are allowed in the country, and even if yours is allowed, you better pray there's not a single bore hole in there that looks like it may be hiding a bug!

Does that apply to all wooden stuff? We have loads of old furniture we would want to bring over, plus kids beds etc.

Not all wood. I'm sure there is a list somewhere about whats acceptable and whats not. I think it's on the MAF website, but perhaps MB will know where the link is to it as she's in charge of links

As the title under my username states: The Missing Link..... and here's a few to read up on.

Have a look towards the bottom of this page from MAF . It tells you the Quarantine Service has an interest in certain things, not that they are banned.

About woodware being imported.

Cleaning outside equipment real good means: ?
cleaning w/ a bleach solution?
steam cleaning?
What exactly do I have to pay close attention to, on moving possesions?

Any wood species not acceptable?

Can I bring liquids, powders, solids (more like cleaning supplies)?

What about motorized equipment, the oil and fuel needs to be drained, right? anything else?

When the items arrive in NZ, and you do not have a home, how difficult is it to store them?

Then when you find a home, is it possible to hire a truck to move your stuff yourself?

And will I be taxed on my junk?

Whoever that has pulled this off you are the

Thanks

We're not yet had the joy of the customs inspection, but from what we have read, been told etc ...

Outside equipment (bikes, canoes, golf clubc, tools). Must be clean from all soils, vegetation etc. We also disinfected everything with jeyes fluid, followed by a squirt of WD40 to prevent rusting etc.

Wood - anything goes so long as it's not just come out of the garden soil. Anything treated, and clean is fine. Basically, if it's just sawn timber it's a no-no, but ply, mdf etc are all OK.

Cleaning/liquids. I think people have in the past ... probably best to check this one with the shipping company as they all have different preferences.

HTH,

Lou
