Default Shipping belongings from the UK
We have a couple of questions regarding shipping our belongings to NZ. As we do not have a work visa or PR and we are going to come over and sort that part out in NZ, when can we ship our belongings over? Do we have to wait till we get PR?

Also we have a friend who is a New zelander and lives in Hastings, NZ, can she ship our stuff from the UK to NZ?

Does anyone know?????????????

You can ship stuff over, but it may or may not be liable to GST this will also apply if your friend does it for you.
Personal belongings are GST free if you are arrving to take up residence. You have up to 2 years after the date you arrive to qualify to ship your goods GST free.

Hi All,

We had a long conversation by email with Customs about this as we didn't know how long we were going to spend touring once we got to NZ. They told us that because we had PR, we had 5 years to bring our gear across after we first arrived. MB kept that post as a sticky somewhere. I'll see if I can find it and post the link.......
