Our thoughts exactly Glenda. They don't even get fed so that they don't have to go to the toilet in their crate, they only get water. I asked the woman if there was going to be someone sat beside them stroking them all the way there! That was the cheapest quote as well, the other quotes were as much as 2.5k more! Anyway, we can't leave them behind they are an important part of the family, the kids would be devastated.

Yep, we're going to be touring a bit first. The dogs are going to our friend Fiona who lives in Tuakau? South of Auckland I think. She breeds Newfies and has a few acres. The dogs will be fine there for a few weeks whilst we go on a little adventure. Can you imagine having to share a campervan with them two? Nightmare. Mind you I'm sure it'll be a nightmare trying to find somewhere to rent with the two of them in tow.

Default Excited

I am excited for you Dawn. Hope you have somewhere to go to when you land as you will be exhausted. Looks like our tea and biscuits are a must, won't make any plans till you are here because you will not be upto it.
You would be very surprised at how accomodating Kiwis are with dogs and I know there is a dog boarder round here.
It will be here quicker than you think so I would be ruthless with your stuff, go to charity shops and have a car boot.
I am still sorting things out here and have been in the country for 2 weeks, you will be amazed at what you take for granted in the UK. Suppose it isn't going to be as much of a problem if your travelling around.
It is cooler in the mornings but the sun is always shining by mid morning, I haven't longed for central heating yet, so don't get too stressed about the lack of it in houses. Just put more layers on, says me in bed with dressing gown, duvet and blanket.
I can honestly say Dawn, I love it here and I live in a really grotty flat. I am moving so that is something to look forward to. The sun is always shining, the Kiwis have a positive attiitude, the scenery is lovely I just miss a decent cup of tea. Are you allowed to bring tea bags with you?
I wish you a good trip and hope to see you soon.
Vee

Thanks Vee!! xxxx I'm gonna check about the tea bags and if I can bring some with me I will.

We were thinking about booking a room for when we land as when we went to USA this Xmas we were absolutley knackered after flights. Think it would be a good idea to go sleep for the rest of the day, our flight arrives in at 5.15 am. It's just finding somewhere for the dogs.

Default Tea anyone

Thanks for that Taffy. I saw the PG Tips in Woolworths but I had already bought some called Dilmah. They make quite a good cuppa.
Dawn I think it is a really good idea to book a room but i would book in after 12 noon or you may only get the room for a few hours, unless you book it for 2 nights because I don't know what you will do for 6 or 7 hours. We were knackered but couldn't sleep. You could always ask them if you can put your luggage in their luggage room, if they have one. We stayed at the Centra which is near the airport. If you want to be near the action you could look for a hotel in Auckland centre. There are lots of Hire car firms at the airport. Although there are rental companies at the motel we stayed in. The service was good, the food excellent and they had internet facilities. I was satisfied with them.
Good luck and not long now.
Vee
