You're never on your own you've got all of us :D

Ask you boss for cab numbers and he may arrange a pick up for you. I will try and find out from my friends what cabs run in WHK as well.....be back soon...

:) It's good to know, I only moan to you lot because your the only ones who know how I feel, most of you have been there.
I have a couple of people I can ask. The headmaster and his secretary are helpful and Kevin who organised my accomodation at the hospital.

Looks like there are only two in WHK:

A1 Taxi Phone number: 0064 -7-307 0070

or

Whakatane taxis 0064 -7-308 0222

None have email I dont think. Am waiting to find out if there are any more for you.

The numbers I've given you are from the UK if its internal from NZ drop the 0064 and prefix the numbers with 0.

Remeber if you use your UK mobile from here with your UK sim you'll have to drop the zero of all NZ numbers and replace them with 0064.

From memory as well if you use your UK credit card on a pay phone you have to do the same.

Hope this helps.

Oh whilst I remember theres a nice wee Irish pub on the corner in WHK called the Craic. Good live music and a good laff!

Thanks Lil Amy, so you like the black stuff eh?
Thanks for those numbers.
Do Kiwis operate on Manyana time or are they fairly reliable?

Just found out as well that WHK airport has a cab phone in it that goes direct to one company so that may be your best best. I think it may be free but dont quote me ....

They have car rentals at Whakatane (http://www.whakatane.com/visitor_info.html), and they will always be able to get a taxi for you (if it is like our local airport you will have the same person dealing with unloading the luggage, booking you in, and dealing with rentals etc.). ?If you are staying at a motel, the motel can usually pick you up.

Sounds like you are going to be looked after, anyway! :)

:) Thanks guys, all this information is really useful. Not just to me but anyone going to Bay of Plenty. Still haven't made my mind up, stay in Auckland 2 nights then drive to Whakatane or fly.
Think I will fly, don't want to be driving in a foriegn country with jet lag. think I will get a car at the airport, save me going back later.
