Default shipping your own container

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has experience or know of any companies that will ship a container from NW England to NZ.

We actually own a 10ft container and don't have too much furniture etc to take so want to just fill our container with personel stuff and some white goods and maybe our suite, get it shipped and then keep the container once we arrive.

Does anyone know if this is possible and are there any companies that do it- its seems most I have come accross use their own containers and of course we have our own.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Beth

Default Re: shipping your own container

Pianist did her own packing but she rented a container and also she?s from America.

If you look on the Master Website List under Shipping, you?ll find a list of shippers in the UK. ?It might be an idea to pick some likely looking ones in or near your area and send them an email or give them a ring to discuss the possibility of them handling your own container. ?Some of the companies talk about ?your own container? but they mean one that?s completely for your own use, not that you have your own which you want to ship. ?I doubt they would mention shipping people?s containers as they?ll want you to use theirs but, upon being prodded, they might just come forth with the info you need.

I'm sure there must be a way of doing this as it's almost the same as asking them to ship a load of self-packed boxes (as we did). ?It's just that yours are in a container. ?It would be easy for them to pick up the container so there shouldn't really be any hassle as long as you follow the rules with regards to the paperwork e.g. making detailed lists of contents of boxes etc. ?

If you need shipping insurance you could try Letton Percival's marine insurance. They are reasonable and have a good reputation.

Hope you can find someone. ?Good luck.

Thanks MB

Will take a look. We aren't at the moving stage yet but just exploring all possibilities. Hubby is talking about just takeing a coupe of cartons of personel stuff and leaving everything else- after all it is a fresh start.

We will see nearer the time- hopefully in the new year- still waiting for a job offer. [smiley=eusa_pray.gif]
