Default update on our shipping saga

Our 50 boxes have been tracked down!!! Yippee.......they are safe and sound.....in a warehouse 10 miles from our old house in salisbury!!!!! ?>:( ?Won't go into all the details of how we have managed to find this out, but needless to say the shipping company are still trying to dig themselves out of the very deep hole they have dug!!

Wonderful news, Maggie, but very mysterious. I take it the shippers had put the boxes in the warehouse and not that they'd been stolen and stashed in there?

The least they can do for you now is to put those boxes on a plane and get them to you as quickly as possible.

Hi MB - yep the packers did take them to storage in the warehouse ?;D Sorry I had typed out a huge long message detailing all the ins and outs of the story but ended up losing it by pressing the "BAck" key! ?::) ? So I just gave you all the bare bones!?
Basically all we are being offered at the mo is a refund of the ?346 we paid for shipping additional boxes (which I think was about 100 cubic feet, and I'm sure that is much less than 50 boxes!!) - I believe the boxes will be coming out on a contaner ship, but thanks MB for suggesting that they fly them out - I will definitely be putting that to them. ?We are also going to demand that they pay for any customs charges we incur, and are going to be pushing for a full refund of shipping costs plus paying the excess on our insurance claims for the stuff that they damaged. ?We threatened them with being named and shamed on the NZ emigration forums - good job I'm such a forum junkie isn't it??! ?;D

You sort them out Maggie. [smiley=071.gif]
Your tale has to be one of the classics of moving ... I mean who would expect 50 boxes of their belongings to get lost, and have them found sitting in a warehouse in the UK?

They should be mortified by their mistake, and if the threat of naming and shaming is what is needed, then go for it!

Hi Maggie,

I'm so glad you have ;located your things at last! A real mess though hey!
Yes you'd expect them to fly all of your things out to you and more. I hope you get it all soon.
I'm still waiting for the report to be done on our shipping then I would expect some insurance from our damaged goods too. It seems as though the worse happened here in NZ!
All the best
Debra

Good on you for telling them what you want to satisfy you. You might not get it all, but it sure sounds reasonable. What a tremendous goof on the shipper's part.
