we also attended the london expo, and although all the people we spoke to were very helpfull ,for my trade(sparky)there was not alot, this mayby because of the whole registration thing(still waiting to hear back from ERWB).the guys from advance personel, an employment agency, were helpfull but there hands are a bit tied as the sparky jobs they have you need to be registered.
we will have alook at the list and see
cheers johnty

Hi Johnty,

I can confirm that exhibitors at the upcoming Opportunities New Zealand Expo are looking to recruit electricians and I'm sure that they will be very interested in meeting you.

To receive a list of the jobs that exhibitors are looking to fill please pre-register by following the links below and we'll keep you informed in the coming weeks.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you there!
Kylie

Johnty - I see so many jobs going for electricians with good wages all over the place! I saw some on the Herald newspaper website and some on TradeMe I think too! You will have no problem I'm sure! All the best,
Debra

Yeah, as Stevey says, thanks for posting back Kylie. I was disappointed because we're in an unusual situation with the work that I do and with our qualifications - so I was hoping I could find someone there that would be able to help us out with alternatives but of course they're all far too busy talking to people who they can get on the move out there pretty quickly.

To say that the creative arts is a big industry and on the skill shortage list I hoped there would have been someone there representing the arts, that's why I was disappointed. To me, most of the stuff seemed to be based around IT, hospital staff or teaching, I know they need these professions in earnest so completely understand why but y' know. Sorry - moaning now!!!! thanks for the links kylie,i will check them out.i was hopeing that i would have heard back from the electrical workers registration board by now.then some of the employers may be intrested, and know we are serious about the move.
thanks for the kind words debd ,i know there seems to be lots of jobs for sparkys but all requiring this registration.i know i get frustrated by it ,but i can see the point..hopefully i will get something in the post soon.
we have been talking about the issue of me going out to NZ to try to land a job then Ally,Ottillie and Elijah following on,or even going for a couple of weeks on my own to line up interviews .it seems that some folk say potential employers take more notice once you are there.
although a bit dissapointed at the london expo last time, these guys must be keen to recruit, flying half way round the world.i think its expensive for them to have a stand also.
there seemed to be alot of real estate stands last time, which dont get me wrong we are all going to need houses when we get there, but for many getting a job is the only way in.
cheers johnty
