Oooooh, Stevey will now be hopefully sleeping, wrapped up in his airline blanket with the hum of jet engines in the background. Can't believe he is actually on his way at last!

Maggie ... I sense you have one very big smile on your face! Good luck for Saturday!

8 weeks ago we did the flight etc,,.,

and it still haunts me now..
still very exciting and all but when you look back on it..
you do wonder even more at those poor sods a hundred years ago that came by ship..

if what we've all done/doing/contemplating is brave, then those people were uber brave..

btw,
looks like world cup coverage on tv one will be satisfactory..

He actually arrives in NZ at 11am on Friday (NZ time) - about 21 hours from now.

Hope they're coping with that long journey...... [smiley=icon_confused.gif]

We are hoping to see them on Sunday - wish me luck [smiley=icon_eek.gif] lol - what have we let ourselves in for?? ;)
Stick a brush and a pot of paint in his hand and point him to a few of those walls that need redecorating. When he's finished that, show him the garden and where the gardening tools are kept. After a month, he'll be only too ready to move on, if he's still standing. You probably won't see him again - ever. ;)

Mother Bear, I'm shocked - asking our guest to paint walls and do gardening ::) ....................... I mean, come on, surely nothing less than a bit of trench-digging for the new eletricity wires would suffice for MrC - then maybe he can do the painting and gardening ......................

You got emotional over leaving your BBQ? Geez, what a guy you are [smiley=icon_lol.gif] .
Seriously, I hope you weren't too fatigued by the flight. Wishing you a smoother settling in than your leaving sounds to have been.

Mother Bear, I'm shocked - asking our guest to paint walls and do gardening ? ::) ....................... ?I mean, come on, surely nothing less than a bit of trench-digging for the new eletricity wires would suffice for MrC - then maybe he can do the painting and gardening ......................

I was just trying to break him in first. ?An easy bit of painting, moving onto digging the garden and then he?d be suitably toned up for digging the trench.

For the benefit of our readers, we?ve just been hit with the verdict that the electricity pole outside the house is rotten. ?The electrician who viewed it reckoned they wouldn?t be able to get around that side of the house with their machine to replace the pole, therefore a very long trench from the house, down an embankment and across the paddock to the pole by the road would have to be dug in order to run the cables underground instead. ?

This, of course, would be at a cost of thousands of dollars ?. ?I?ve since been wracking my brain to come up with a way around this ? , as that amount of money would go a long way towards the improvements we need to do on the house. ?Personally, I can?t see why the men couldn?t manhandle the new pole into position as it isn?t that big. ?The existing pole must have got into place somehow in the days before machines did it. ?Perhaps it was erected before the house was built, but I?m not so sure it was.

I did wonder about organising a pole party where movetonz members come from all around NZ and get together to hoist up the new pole. ?Good way to bond. ?Yeah right! ?

The offending pole.
