We've made our decision!!!!

I thought i'd let everyone know that myself, Wife and 2 Children are making the bold move and going to NZ on the 29th June for good ( hopefully). We have explored all our options and we are going to go on a VV and find a job over there, this is for quickness than anything else as my wifes parents are going this month. I may even have something on the cards anyway with my current employer ( The Salvation Army ).

We have sold or donated to charity the things we do not need. I have handed in my notice at work and i'm currently selling my Car..

We were going to apply under the family adult sibling catagory but no NZ employer was willing to wait 10 - 12 months for us to come over. (NZIS make it so hard).

So our flight out of heathrow is on the 29th June at 18.30 to Singapore, staying over night in Singapore (so the kids can rest) take off fron Changi at 8am the next morning and land at auckland on the 1st July at 22.30pm

Some people think we are mad by just upping our roots and going but i think we all need to take risks for our children so they can have a better life.

We know its going to be hard work but i know we can do it..

That's a bold move, Kitchnerd, but one that many others have made or are waiting to make in the next few months. Certainly it's one way of getting to NZ quickly and also a better way of finding work.

Hope all goes well for you. We are booked on Emirates on 17th Sept.37 hours after my wife finishes her nursing course. Otherwisewe would be there already!

That is wonderful news, it's great to see you taking everything into your own hands!

It's an inspriration to all of us that are planning on doing the same thing.

We are basically doing the same in July, yet were unsure of if I'll be going alone first to secure a job or else all just uprooting at once. Were getting a lot of grief for even considering the latter, yet for some reasons it seems to make the most sense. Anyways, best of luck to you and your family.

Just to add my good wishes to you.

Its a shame your not on the 1830 flight to Singapore the day before, 28th, as I'm on this plane with my daughter to NZ for an eyeball at prospective Uni's for her.
We could've compared notes etc, or whatever one does in those situations.
Oh, well, never mind.
