Default Houseladder - diy house selling

I read about this Houseladder site on a couple of postings on this forum. Has anybody had any luck using it? Was it worthwhile?

We sold ours in a fortnight, however I didn't rely only on the advert created on the site, I designed my own website which had a lot more information on it, which I linked to the advert.

I wouldn't know how to begin to build my own website and doesn't it cost money?

Building your own website is actually very easy. You don't need much IT skills. You if you don't have something like frontpage, interdev, dreamworks, etc you can just use word to do it.
You can download free templates from the web and just customise them.
If you have an ISP - ie access the internet from home then you will get free web space provided.
Alternatively, just put together a word document with loads of pictures and really sell your place to the buyer. As you are not an estate agents, you are not limited to their stupid phraseiology eg you can say 'window over looking front garden', 'instead of window to front elevation'. One you have this, put it up onto your free webspace - you ISP will be able to give you isntructions how to do this and put a link from houseladder to it.

Thanks for the web building tips Moggy and really sorry to hear that you've hit a few complications. As you say though, fingers crossed they can be overcome and the ball can get rolling again soon.

At least you know you can sell your house quite quickly should you need to. We've been trying to sell ours for 18 months already. Think we'll give this Houseladder thing a shot.

Keep smiling, barriers can only be overcome. [smiley=006.gif]
