Default USING UK LAPTOPS ETC IN NZ

Hello All
I have been re reading the posts about shipping electricals etc, but does anyone have experince of taking uk bought laptops ipods etc, and how they fare in NZ?

I don't have either at present, so am pondering whether to buy here or there.

they work fine, absolutely no problem, you just need to change the plug or use an adaptor or buy a new lead.

Hi Jenny, yes they are fine..

in fact , this laptop i am using now is very similar to the one you use at work..
and my ipod is dinky doo too..

in fact everything is dinky doo..

I'll let you know how our telly's etc perform once they get here..

Superb, we're bringing our laptop over as well and going to use that as our DVD players etc until we can get a TV sorted out.

Good to know they all work OK

Yup...American laptops work fine in NZ as well. As a matter of fact, my husband just bought a Dell laptop with all the bells and whistles yesterday to bring with us. We are buying a bunch of transformers and adaptor plugs to use our electricals there. On the subject of electricals....does anyone know if heat producing electricals (irons, toasters etc.) from the US work safely with transformers in NZ? Small appliances like these are very cheap here but cost a lot in NZ. Also, I read that cell phones from the UK work there...do the ones from the US work as well? What about telephones? I bought a very nice system just months ago...would be a waste to dump it if it works there. I heard that US tvs don't pick up the signals in NZ. They work fine to play DVDs.
