storage in Christchurch

Can anyone help.
I'm looking to ship some goods over to NZ soon.
My thinking is do I leave it in the UK warehouse system for four months or is there a cheaper option to have them shipped straight away to NZ inti Christchurch.
Mind you I'm not sure if customs allow us to ship before we have arrived in the country!
I'm still waiting an answer back from compnaies on that one. ::)
