Brilliant post, Natty. ?Thanks for taking the time to make it. ?Glad to hear things are going your way (apart from the job, but that?ll, hopefully, come soon enough). ?You?ve obviously made the right decision to immigrate, which will be a great boost to others waiting in the wings.

With a bit of luck the kids will settle down once they make new friends and become enmeshed in the kiwi way of life. ?Perhaps they?re just reacting to being released from what they saw as constraints in the UK and are testing the waters in NZ. ?Once a new routine is established, maybe they?ll settle down a bit. ?

Hope things will continue to go well for you and I?m sure they will, if you?d only leave the coloureds out of the white wash next time ? [smiley=icon_mrgreen.gif] . ?Have you tried Colour Run Remover (if they sell it there) or even a soak in a weak solution of Domestos (UK), Clorox (Middle East) or whatever they call it in NZ, if the polo shirts are plain white. ?Trying to get colour runs out of whites is one of my fortes ::) , so take it from one who knows.

Take care and continue to enjoy your new life. ?Look forward to your next post.

I get updates from the wellington city council website and today received this article. It paints a great picture of Wellington.

Wow natty, absolutley fantastic mate, made up for you and like everyone else says, don't worry about the rugrats they'll settle down soon enough, stay calm so that your confidence wears off on them, their instincts and senses are all screaming insecurity aren't they? They'll be fine as will you all to hear you speak. I am dead excited for you.

Great to hear about the cars too, Gary and I were talking about it the other day. I used to have a TR6 years ago, before the kids and we passed a really nice one last week. I made the comment about getting one in NZ and Gaz didn't think there'd be any. Quite keen to find out now, I used to love that car!

We're thinking of Wellington now, as it's the arty place and all so, y never know bud, might see you around.

Keep us posted Natty. You the man!! 8-)

thanks again for all the kind words...

I'll make this my last addition to this thread as we're 3 weeks in now and i reckon we're pretty settled..

I'll try and answer some of the questions posed.. and apologies if I miss anything..

Lauren started school yesterday and is absolutely love love loving it..
She has a couple of good mates already (one from england and a kiwi)
The kiwi is also part of the same football team that she is debuting for this saturday...
The boy wonder starts at a 'kindy' (kindergarten) tomorrow and is on a waiting list for a belting nirsery, should start in a few weeks time..

Wife is fairly well settled at work and I can't decide between Lion Red and Tui..

It's a striuggle but I'll manage.

The rental we are moving to is a 3 bed,, $165 a week.. (60 quid roughly)

It has a big bit of garden and a little lean too type of car port thing..
It's far from palatial but by christ it'll ding dang do for me..
It's a 30 second walk to Laurens school and a 2 minute walk to the hospital.. a 15 minute walk will get you to the boys nursery and theres a great Lake and park scenario right across the road...

The Suzuki we've bought is a 1995 2.0 V6 5 door Vitara.. 8990 was the price on the windscreen.. it's done 60,000 miles (90,000 odd KM)

I've checked AutoTrader UK and this price seems slightly over the odds compared to UK prices...
It seems that it depends on the make and model you go for that decides if the prices here are lower than the UK..

Loads and Loads of BigHorns around this neck of the wood.. but haven't seen any for sale.. (stopped looking right enough when we bought the Suzuki..)
We pick the suzuki up on Tuesday next week,,.

All in all it's been a great move..
The kiwi's are brilliant.. the brits that are here can be compared to the nice brits that you DO get in Britain,
I will definitely be a regular here still and if anyone wants to know owt about the wairarapa then give me a shout..

One word of warning for people with school age kids..
Lauren came back from her first day at school and says "i've learned a new maori word..' really I says what is it?'... 'fucker' she exclaims in a look of joy I haven't seen since she got a gameboy for her birthday 2 years ago..

I haven't had a chance to check the authenticity of this (im sure its not spelt that way..) but she was a happy fuc*er anyway...

cheers for now..

Happy days, Natty. Couldn?t be better.

Now you?re on ?the other side?, your inside knowledge and experience will come in handy for everyday matters that our members are thirsting for. Seems like we?ve got quite a few gearing up to make the move this year, so they will be drinking up all the info you can give them. It?s surprising what people are interested in when it comes to planning a new life (or is it just me that?s interested in electrical sockets and dog washes ?).

And don?t forget to put on some pics if you can lay your hands on a camera. Every little helps.

.....ah, it's a tough old life eh natty.....

The Suzuki we've bought is a 1995 2.0 V6 5 door Vitara.. 8990 was the price on the windscreen.. it's done 60,000 miles (90,000 odd KM)

.....don't say what you got it for but hope you bargained a little, the Kiwis are always up for a little bartering and you often get some cracking deals.....

One word of warning for people with school age kids..
Lauren came back from her first day at school and says "i've learned a new maori word..'really I says what is it'?... 'fucker' she exclaims in a look of joy I haven't seen since she got a gameboy for her birthday 2 years ago..

.....lmao at that story but I'm not surprised at all! Rachael tickles me sometimes with the things she comes out with (not all swearing!) - she goes to Simbly (assembly) in the mornings, she does Skitching (sketching) and I've lost count of how many times I've heard 'sweet as' and 'heaps'! One word of warning, Rachael often gets confused with her vowel sounds because of the accent difference, e.g. she often thinks there should be a letter I where there is an E, for instance 'net' is pronounced 'nit' here, so she would spell it with an I rather than an E. Wow, I'm confusing myself here, but you might get my drift [smiley=icon_redface.gif]
