If you'd like to add comments about the Master Website List (above on a sticky) or donate your favourite links, please do so here. The aim is to eventually clear the Master Website thread so that only The List remains.

If you have a link or two to add, could you please give a brief description of what the links are about so we know which category to put them in.

Muchos gracias.

well now that the list if fairly somewhat finalized, I am moving on to my next little project:

I would like to create a sticky or perhaps stickys that will essentially breakdown the migration process into various steps such as:

Preliminary Steps:
Step 1. Visit and explore New Zealand
Step 2. Check the job market
Step 3. Check the cost of living
Step 4. Check the real estate market
Step 5. Check the school systems

Migration Steps: (this is where I'm not 100% sure since it appears there are various ways to do this)

Is Step 1 simply show up in NZ and hope for the best or is Step 1 applying for PR or do you fill out EOI and wait for a response?

I've read that some people just move there not really having filled out any form - kinda just sneak in and hope for the best.

If step 1 is filling out EOI - what is the typical wait?
What is step 2 after EOI is approved?

As the process steps are broken down, I will add links back to the master NZ website list.

i think thats what Taffy has done by creating the different forums..
ie ITA , making the move etc..

It's all there..

If you have too many sticky posts, it makes it difficult sometimes to see the newer ones..
for a guide on how long it takes at the different stages, take a look at some peoples signature blocks..

mine for example..
you can see exactly what happened and when..
a lot of the other regulars have similar things.

The website is great but I've had to dig through numerous posts to find information that should probably all be consolidated in a few stickys. For Example there is a section for EOI and even a sticky but What is EOI and ITA?

I think the forum is great to get opinions and feedback on various nuances about a particular topic or issue and get recommendations from the group but as this site become more popular, I can easily see questions being repeated over and over again and people will have to dig through even greater amounts of posts and replies to find an answer. For now, when someone asks, "Where can I find a website that......" they can be pointed to the Master NZ Website list.

I'm coming at this from a completely "know nothing" point of view.

The immigration process is extremely complex in that different people enter it in different ways due to their circumstances and different situations arise during that process that can send them off in a different direction. It would be wonderful for someone to set it all out in a simple and easily understood layout, but I?m not sure how possible this is. There?s been many a time when I?ve started to answer someone?s question on the forum and found myself sinking deeper and deeper into the mire as other thoughts occur to me that ought to be included. There are so many ?if?s, ?but?s and ?maybe?s that it?s easy to get lost amongst all the information.

As I?m hoping to immigrate via a not so frequently used route (Family Sponsorship), I?m not up to speed with all the other routes but, if this is something you really want to have a go at, maybe there are some other links to sites (if they exist) that might provide information or explain matters in another way, so that things are more clearly understood. Of course, the NZIS site is the Bible of the immigration process, but there could be a couple of other places where information may be offered in a simpler form.

When looking for information on the forum, the search facility is quite good for picking up related topics. I get the impression that not many people use the search facility because, as you say, the same questions are often asked over again. Hunting through the various threads and posts can be quite frustrating as there are so many. Because of this, I try to add any new posts to older but still relevant post so that there is some continuity and all the information is then in one place, but not many people do this and we end up with a lot of separate and quite brief threads that are about the same topic. Perhaps it?s not the done thing and I?ve got it wrong, but it makes sense to me, as you can run through the whole set of posts without having to dizzyingly (? a new word [smiley=icon_mrgreen.gif] )hop in and out of different threads.

I don?t think I have the ability to move individual posts, only threads so, in order to finalise the clearing of the Master Website List thread, I?ve copied and pasted over the last two posts.

Posted by Expat on Sat Mar 04, 2006 2.23 a.m.

I came across this article:

New Zealand has only had its own coinage since 1933, before that date, it used British coins.
In 1967 New Zealand changed over to decimal currency, and about the same time started to issue special coins for collectors, in the form of proof sets, dollars, and uncirculated sets. Many of these feature attractive designs.
Unlike Australia, New Zealand issues no gold bullion coins, and has only issued gold coins, all commemorative proofs, on six occasions. The mintage figures are all low.

It seems like it may be difficult to acquire gold coins in NZ. That's the most unfortunate thing I've come across so far. The global fiat currency system, in my humble opinion, is on the verge of collapsing but that's a whole other discussion.

Are there any restrictions on importing gold coins and/or bullion into NZ?

I guess that would depend on how much! I'm sure there's no problem bringing in a personal collection, but if you're talking Italian Job quantities, then I expect you will be investigated quite thouroughly!

This particular link is broken or dead.

http://www.advancedpersonel.co.nz/

It should come with an extra N for personnel and according to their website, they specialised more in Building, construction and engineering.

Thanks Pulsarblu. I'll amend it. Odd though, as I usually copy and paste the links after checking them out myself.
