    Lightbulb Bringing the Dog!

Please can anyone recommend a good caring company to transport the dog for us? We have just started looking into this and I have a headache already! We were going to do the paperwork ourselves but have found that AirNZ will only transport if the paperwork is done through a company. Looking at the forms I can see why!
Bringing the dog is our biggest worry (and cost by the looks of things!), we are worried about how she will cope during the long flight as she likes to be close to us, we are also worried about her being separated for quarantine. We were planning on getting another to bring over, but the cost is just too much.

Can anyone advise how long she will be in quarantine for as I cant find any info on the MAF website. Any recommendations of companies or information is greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome We shipped our 3 dogs in 2008 with Golden Arrow. They were brilliant, they picked our dogs up from our house, dealt with all the worming, flea treatment, tests etc... and all the paperwork. They kept us informed all along the way and even called us in NZ when they arrived to make sure everything was ok. At that time quarantine was not a requirement. I believe now that all dogs from the UK need to be quarantined for 10 days and have to have rabies vaccinations & blood tests. These need to be done about 6 months before flying (I believe). Any pet shipper who knows their stuff should be able to talk you through what is required and what they can help you with. The cost is a lot but it was worth it to us.

Thanks for you quick reply nickydwuk. How did your dogs react to the flight? Where they Ok? Our do is a bit of a worrier and hates to be parted from us and new places, so we are quite worried about the process.

Has anyone on here used a company in Wimborne St Giles, Dorset?

Golden Arrow warned us that the dogs may be a bit dehydrated when we picked them up so we took water & a dish. When we went to pick them up one of them turned his back on us for a few seconds then changed his mind. They were excited to see us, didn't drink too much and when we got them home they slept. No lasting effects - after a few hours it was like they had never been away. We have since returned to the UK (and intend to return to NZ in the next few years) and they handled the journey back as well as before. No lasting effects and no problems with behaviour, house training or anything. You wouldn't know they have travelled half way across the world twice!!!

    Default golden arrow

    Hi
We also used Golden Arrow to bring our two dogs out three years ago and recommend them. Dogs arrived safely and were calm when we collected them from the airport. Within couple of hours everything was back to normal.
