    Default 110 & 240 electricity transmission lines

    Hi all

I would appreciate personal and diverse opinions on the pros and cons of buying and building on a section that distriplan shows 110 & 240 electricity transmission lines will pass through. We're fall in love with a section and recently find from the distric plan that 2 electricity transmission lines will pass through the section in near future.

    regards

From the Transpower website: "The 220 kV lines connect the largest power stations with the main load centres. Provincial centres and smaller power stations are connected by transmission lines operating at 110 kV, 66 kV and 50 kV. Transpower also has some local lines operating at 33 kV and 11 kV."
If yours are to be 220kV and 110kV it sounds like these are to be the higher voltage power lines and possibly the larger towers. The maps here may be some help.

This is an information booklet for landowners published by Transpower.

Things to consider: The location of the lines and towers relative to your house or proposed house, whether they will interrupt views you might have, whether access to the lines for maintenance affects you, whether they might affect resale value. Some people have concerns regarding electromagnetic fields and health, others are worried about the look of the towers and lines.
