Default Furnished/Unfurnished Rentals and bedroom queries

    Hi,

Soon I'll be moving to Wellington, NZ

Does 1 bedroom house means it has a bedroom, a living room, bath, kitchen or it's only a room, bath, kitchen ?

Also, what all amenities are present in the unfurnished rentals. Do they have fridge, washing machine, dryer, cook top ?

My office location is in Ngauranga and my rental budget is $250pw. Will I get a good house close to my work place ?

    Thanks

Have you looked on the real estate agents' sites? The write-ups on their rental properties should include details of what you're getting for your money. I would have thought a 1-bedroomed house would have the rooms you mention but a 1-bedroomed apartment may be more of a bed-sit. You would have to look closely at what the write-up says about the individual places as they could vary a lot from one to the other, including which electrical appliances you would get.

Sorry, not sure where Ngauranga is so can't give a comment on what you would find for $250 p.w. For a list and links to real estate agents' websites take a look on here under Real Estate/Rentals. You can see on there what's available in your chosen area and also what each property has in the way of rooms and facilities.

A word of caution, it's not advisable to take on a rental from anything like the Internet as opposed to seeing it for yourself or getting someone close to you to look at it for you. Properties aren't always as they seem on the websites. A fair number of NZ houses suffer from damp and are badly insulated as well as other problems that crop up.

You might be best booking into a motel or B&B for when you first arrive and then you can look around rentals yourself and check them out and also get a feel for the different areas too. You will also be likely to have to sign up for a 6 or 12 months contract so you want to make sure it is right.

Depends how far away from work you want to be and how you will be travelling to work but there are plenty of areas easily accessable to Nauranga.
We are up in Porirua and takes Hubby half an hour to get into the city centre to work.
