Default NZ's best city to live in

Revealed - NZ's best city to live in

Dunedin is tops in the 'great place to live' stakes.

    5:00PM Friday Jan 30, 2009

All of the major centres in New Zealand are said to have a distinct flavour of their own, but a survey released today has revealed which one offers the best lifestyle of all.

And the city that came out on top is renowned for its university, medical school and historic buildings.

Dunedin has been ranked the top place to live in New Zealand.

And the news hasn't been good for the northern centres.

A survey by the ASB Bank ranked Dunedin - the country's eighth-largest city - as the best city community ahead of Rodney District, north of Auckland, and Wellington.

On the bottom of the ranking was Waitakere City although it was a close run with adjacent Auckland.

The survey looked at several aspects which made people feel comfortable and happy living in the area.

    More here.

    Default mmm what a surprise

well, I did say we enjoyed Dunedin..

    So many plus points..

    My biggest negative..
The laid back and falling over mentality..
Nothing gets done very quick and there is a distinct lack of urgency with locals in many occupations from land agents to lawyers to double glaze companies.

Last straw was an appointment cancelled made a week prior and we got a phone call ten minutes before the planned visit..
Could we move it to next week as the guy had some paperwork to finish off!!!
    You have to laugh!

    Default Who'd a thought...

I only recently started reseaching Dunedin. 6 months ago, I hardly knew that it existed. Sounds like New Zealands best kept secret, even if it is hard to get things done there.

Mother Bear, you are a wealth of info. Thank you.

Thank you, Joankeem, but I think we all have a lot of info to share on here . I share facts I've picked up from around the Internet and others share their own personal experiences which are usually a lot more valuable because they are first hand.

    Many thanks to everyone.
