Default Areas to stay in Wellington

    Hi All,

I am relocating to Wellington soon and am wondering what are good / modern areas to live within the city. I am going to be on my own until the end of '08 so i don't need something huge and ideally it should be close to the CBD so i can get by without my own transport. i am looking for something modern and clean and ideally fully furnished (if that happens in NZ).

    Any ideas?

I've been told that Churton Park, Johnsonville, Mt Vic etc. are nice but i have no idea!

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I have PM'd you the details from the other thread.

There are plenty of good areas to stay in and around Wellington and the train I believe is pretty good and reliable for commuting if you didn't want to drive.

Have a look on this site. It has a lot of holiday rentals on which is the easiest way to find a fully firnished place and no need to worry about signing contracts and messing about with bills for electric etc as it is all usually included. This is what we did when we first arrived for about 6 weeks until we found a more permanent rental and had time to scope out the different areas.

    Hope thats of some help.

Yeah it does; thanks. It would work out really expensive though at prices of $150 and up. Shoo hectic! I have a friend i can stay with for a few days until i get around to checking out something of my own.

Only suggestion would be to be North of town like Churton Park or j'ville unless you like being in the inner city.

Churton Park is newer and doesn't have any shopping but nice homes.

Just should spend some time learning the areas to see what you like. What activities you like or want to do are in the area. Petrol isn't cheap and will be far more expense in the future. You need to be close to things you might commute to.
